And to think I donated money to Paul Hackett! Just seen on Hardball |
|
Hackett and the father of U.S. Army 1st Lt. Ehren Watada were on Hardball Hackett came down hard on Lt. Watada for disobeying orders to deploy to Iraq. Hackett is a fucking hypocrite. Hackett has the nerve to call Watada on the carpet for disobeying an order to kill innocent civilians in Iraq AND call him on the carpet for uttering contemptous language against the President? What a fucking joke. I want my money back. :puke:

1. They gave the father so little time and then Hackett had to butt in more |
|
At the end, he even butt in with no respect. I've had it with him.

13. Standard operating proceedures. |

I believe this case has some merit and will cause some problems for Bush. Of course, they will throw the young man in jail, but others of conscienc might begin to speak up and act up too.

2. He's substituted for springer on occasion |

I find paul to be rather full of himself. The LT is subject to the UCMJ. hackett doesn't need to chop on the lad. And hackett doesn't need to wear his glove and anchor at every opportunity.

4. I completely lost my respect for Hackett |
|
when he came out defending the soldiers who committed the vile crimes at Haditha, saying "it's all part of war". Made me absolutely sick.

5. I don't have a way to prove it, but I'm pretty sure that I posted |

something along the lines that I didn't go for Hackett, because of the way he came across: didn't trust him...he seemed a bit too "on," not really authentic. David Letterman, IIRC, made an observation similar to what I observed when Hackett guested on his show.
every time I've seen him since has confirmed that initial judgmemt.
and the bit about casting aspersions on the CINC?
what politician has made more outlandish comments about Bush than Hackett? that's certainly one area of agreement between him and me
he called Bush an "SOB," for sure, and others in the admin "chickenhawks"
I think there were other appellations, but dunno what they were, offhand

6. Something is terribly wrong... |
|
...with this Hackett situation. Something is just not right.
One minute, Hackett was the respected and revered US soldier who was against the war. He was leading the charge and telling it like it is. He was also calling Junior names (which included "chickenhawk" and "son-of-a-bitch), and speaking the truth about this corrupt administration and their sickening war.
Then...Hackett decided to run for office. I apologize for being fuzzy on the facts, but I remember him saying that Republicans and Democrats were insisting that he not run--that he pull out. Someone else who know more than I do--can fill in the blanks. I remember Hackett saying that he was being pressured by Dems not to run. I found that odd. However, I also noticed that Hackett seemed to completely change who he is and his rhetoric--after these episodes.
Fast forward to today---the man is siding with the enemy. He openly defended the US soldiers who have been accused of killing Iraqi civilians in Haditha. Now he criticizes Watada for refusing to deploy to Iraq--a war for which Hackett has expressed disdain.
After calling Junior a "son-of-a-bitch" and a "chickenhawk" it seems utterly outrageous that he would criticize someone for using bad language against the pResident.
Someone is blackmailing or threatening. This situation is proof.
Someone didn't like the momentum that Hackett was building. He threatened their war. He's a handsome, fearless, articulate former-soldier who was very anti-war.
Now, things have changed. How in the world are the neocons blackmailing and threatening? How do they obtain such immense leverage over people?

8. he wanted to run for senate but dem bigwigs backed his opponent |
|
He may have felt betrayed and decided 'well, I'll show you.'
That seems a strange reaction for an adult.
The whole thing seemed very odd, from his near miss on the congressional seat on.

11. I agree with the comment |
|
that the Lt that refuses to deploy is a disgrace.
Disobey an illegal order. If ordered to shoot someone, torture, etc, then is the time to face a court marshal.
Deploying to Iraq is not an illegal order according to the laws passed by Congress and signed by the President.
