Will OH 2004 and FL 2000 be remembered like IL in the JFK/Nixon election? |
|
Where there's a sort of historical "conventional wisdom" that the Daley machine helped put IL in JFK's column, turning a close election in his favor?
Or will this be buried by history?

for starters, even had Nixon WON Illinois, he'd still have LOST the electoral vote
the real reason Nixon didn't challenge Illinois is that just as much pro-Nixon fraud went on in downstate Illinois as did in Chicago
don't take my word for it, though

4. Exactly, which is why Nixon didn't push the issue |
|
However, it was the dying days of the machine in Chicago. The city was crooked, but as I recall the rest of the state was not.
Nixon would still have been trounced by electoral votes even though the popular vote was very close.

2. 1960's been 'rewritten' by the repubs ... as has FL2000 and OH2004 |
|
They claimed in FL2000 that Nixon 'graciously conceded' and Gore should do likewise.
Apparently, in actual fact republicans were all prepared to fight forever and then a deal was struck: republicans wouldn't say anything about Chicago votes and democrats wouldn't say anything about votes in southern Illinois.
If the republicans can control the story, the story will be what it is now: Bush won in FL2000 and won OH in 2004. Any other view is 'sour grapes' and democrats should just shut up and 'get over it.'

3. No, 2K and 2K4 will be remembered as real frauds against the American... |

...people, as opposed to fake fraud ginned up by Republicons to discredit their political opponents.

5. FYI: That myth has been debunked..... |
|
I read up on it recently (sorry, no link) and there is no evidence of election fraud in favor of Kennedy which holds up under scrutiny.
But I've been thinking for awhile now that the myth that Kennedy won in 1960 due to voter fraud in Illinois probably has a lot to do with why the GOP thinks it's "owed" a stolen election. Or two.
