This next election should be about the incompetence of the Republicans... |
|
...and their refusal to oversee a runaway executive and their tendency to rubberstamp everything that comes from this White House. However, the Repubs wish to make the election about the Democrats. For example, "the Democrats want to cut and run in Iraq". Well, basically, Bush and the Republicans lied us into this war. Whatever the Democrats think is secondary to that salient point.
But, if the Repubs can make this election about Democrat vs Republican, they will stand a better chance at maintaining control of the House and Senate. Division is a very powerful political tool .
However, the Democrats should not permit them to define the campaigns. The next election should be a referendum on George W Bush and the Republicans. How many Repubs supported George W Bush's Social Security plan? Get them on record. Make them answer. Did they support privatizing Social Security? If they point out that Social Security is in dire financial straights, Democrats should point out how the Social Security funds were not being spent until Bush took over the government by decree in 2000. Since then, Mr. Congressmen and all his Republican cohorts have rubberstamped everything from this White House and have neglected their responsibility of oversight and now have the record as the most "do-nothing" Congress ever. The question is not: Do the present Republicans deserve to be in the majority but do they deserve to even be in government at all?

1. Should the people that voted for the ultra incompetent Republicans |
|
ever be allowed to vote again?

4. Certainly that will help |
|
but Clinton gave Kerry the campaign slogan in 2004 which Kerry inexplicably did not use: "THEIR WAY DOESN'T WORK!"
More and more we need candidates who will point that out, that it's GOP policies as well as their refusal to rein in a madman at the top that have gotten this country into deep trouble.
The wedge issue is still WAGES, though. I notice it was on the schedule to be debated before Congress adjourned for the Fourth holiday. It should be a lot of fun to watch them try to pass something that is poison pilled to death or to justify defeating it outright.
I agree with you about keeping them out of politics entirely. Lunatics all need to be kept from dangerous items.

5. The Democrats need to start attacking the Republican Congress more... |
|
and tie them to George W Bush. They are all in it together and not Reppublican Congressman or Senator is exempt. They have done great harm to our nation and it is time for a change now - not 2008. We cannot stand one more day of these folks in charge. They are dangerous for America's future.

6. To only talk of incompetence would be letting them off way too easy. |
|
Talk about their blatant criminality.
Talk about the rethugs who are now in jail and those that will soon be in jail. Talk about all the rethugs that have been caught making dirty deals to make themselves and their co-conspirators rich. Make it known that they just can't be trusted in public office. They had the House, the Senate, the Supreme Court and the Executive Branch for six years and now we have a collossal debt that our grandkids will be paying on because they all were in a frenzy to get their own personal pot of gold.

So long as we are talking about the Republicans, rather than have them talking about us...We are on the defensive when we start discussing "cut and run". Ignore it and go on the offensive.

8. Wrong, they are NOT incompetent. |
|
They are certainly not incompetent at destroying the constitution. They are not incompetent at strengthening the unitary executive. They are not incompetent at destroying the relative parity of checks and balances. They are not incompetent at selling influence for gain. They are not incompetent at allowing oil companies to set policy. They are not incompetent at systematically assaulting civil rights. They are not incompetent at protecting felons and attacking war widows. They are not incompetent at supporting bigots and racists and allowing them free reign on the nation's airwaves. They are not incompetent at inflitrating, bullying and controlling the media. They are not incompetent at appealing to the lowest base fears of the populace without offering any substantive hope to alleviate that fear. They are not incompetent at blaming anyone and everyone else for their own misdeeds. They are not incompetent at forcing the debate to be framed in a way that suits them. They are not incompetent at characterizing normal citizens as traitors.
no, no, they are not incompetent. They know exactly what they are doing, and they are accomplishing it.
What they are is corrupt, short-sighted and evil.

So long as the debate is about the Repupblicans, rather than the Democrats. We can talk about your talking points, or we can talk about whether Democrats want to "cut and run". I prefer your talking points.(facts) :)
