Public Opinion Appears to be turning |
|
Look at the grilling Bush took from reporters in Chicago the other day-this was something new, and if I read reports correctly, surprising to the shrub. The other thing I found interesting was what was being sold at our local Dollar General Store here in a small town in northern Arkansas. I go there about once a month. Every other time, by the checkout, were the familiar yellow ribbon magnets saying "Support Our Troops". There are a lot of Guardsmen and regular military from the area. Well yesterday when I went in, those magnets were gone, replaced by an oval with a dove, and the words "Pray For Peace". Knowing this area, I call that a sea change.

1. Everyone has a breaking point |

Even the fundamentalist and I am surprised that it has taken nearly 6 years for so many to say enough of this from the regime.
I pray it is no too late.

3. Good. It's about time. |

Actually, I think that the majority of the population was against this whole thing....I really do. I don't believe the support was ever there. There was a VERY vocal minority that did all the loud talking. The rest.....just got whipped up in the frenzy.
Now?
Most people realize what they knew in their hearts all along: it was a disaster from the very beginning.

5. I wish I shared your optimism. |

I believe a sizable majority was for the whole thing. I know many people, who I would consider moderates, that supported the Iraq invasion because they believed the Bushco lies. For some reason, the Colin Powell dog and pony show at the UN totally convinced them. I tried to point out all of Powell's speculations and fabrications at the time to no avail.
Now, this same group, having been totally deceived by Bushco, still listens to them. They all fall for the "if we pull out now, the results will be a disaster" line. Everything the Bushliars have said about Iraq has proven false, yet now when the say a pullout will be bad, the sheeple still go along. Pathetic.
Anyway, I think the support was there. Some have obviously come to their senses, but not enough.

from vehicles. I don't see any of them any longer. Same with the cheezy car flags. Does this mean everybody hates america now?
