Democrats might win South Carolina Governor's seat
If this guy can get the signatures and get on the ballot, he could pull votes away from Sanford

Knotts circulating petitions: ‘I’m running’
But he needs 10,000 signatures to get on the ballot
By LEE BANDY

State Sen. Jake Knotts on Friday began circulating petitions for a possible run for governor and said he will be a candidate if he obtains the necessary signatures and the names clear the State Election Commission.

“I’m running,” he said. “I’m going.”

The West Columbia Republican spent Friday going from “pillar to post,” as he put it, delivering petitions to people across the state. Many were friends who drove long distances to help, he said.

Knotts must have a minimum of 10,000 signatures of registered voters ready to submit to the election commission by July 17.

Knotts picked up petition forms from the State Election Commission on Thursday. He asked petitions be returned to him by next Friday.
