Is this a possible new tack on AAR by the hosts? |
|
I heard Kennedy on RoF say many Republican voters are misinformed, would be Dems if they voted their values and knew what was going on; almost the same message by Laura Flanders. One GOP voter called in offended that she was saying they are ill-informed. But he could only cite information that was error or lie from Bushco.

1. AAR is starting to tell the hosts what they ought to say. |
|
And trying to control the language they use. Some don't much like this.

Before, he might have to sell his car to pay a fine. Now he would have to sell his house.
Of course THEY are the ones who define what "obscenity" is.

I knew the AAR head honchos must have been involved in his decision to curb his language. Damn. That sucks! It's Satellite radio! WTF? I pay to hear Malloy say whatever the hell he wants to say. What's wrong with AAR?

from 9-noon EDT. Springer is awful and does not belong on AAR. They have to find a way to juggle the schedule, drop Springer and get Thom Hartmann on as a regular. It might mean moving someone else to the 9-noon slot to get Thom on live from Portland.

You dropped XM because of Jerry Springer? I don't believe you. All you had to do was listen to another station for 3 hrs or just turn it off. With 200+ stations you could have found something else.

In my market (SF Bay Area) we get a dumb-assed local morning show, Will and Willie (Will Durst and Willie Brown, former SF Mayor, a real machine-boss Dem), followed by Al Franken, with his inane DINO remarks and canned laugh tracks, and then Jones Radio Network brings us Ed Shultz. I think "Big Eddie" is a blowhard and a vichy-Dem. What keeps me tuned in is Randi Rhodes, Sam Seder and Mike Malloy. I like when Lee Marvin subs for any of them, too. On the weekends, we get infomercials, usually dealing with real estate and home ownership. You'd think the "liberal" Bay Area could do better.

There are those who realize they aren't up to date on information and are willing to listen to you and there are those who are like children who want to believe the moon is made of green cheese, and will never change their minds no matter how many facts and sources you give them. They prefer the fairy tale to the reality and you can't convince them.

When I have friends that blindly send off racist, or misogynist e-mails that are obviously written by some factory funded by the GOP, get pissed at me for calling these things lies, and all of them vote Dem and think Bush is a liar, imagine what a Bush-Moonie thinks.
Most people just won't listen. I know people on the left who visit Drudge every day. Some talk for days about Paris Hilton or J-Lo, but when cornered on a real issue, they spout off the old "Welfare queens, driving Cadillacs, sponging off of our taxes." Never about Corporate troughs, outrageous military industrial complex spending, or giveaways for the rich.
Catapulting propaganda is effective. I'm in a constant battle to debunk the lies, and when one is done, 3 more have replaced it, and by the time I debunk those, the first one is back and believed again. We are outgunned. Nobody sends left wing spam. I got one that's true Today, about the NAFTA superhighway and Kansas City depot. It was from Jerome Corsi and World Nut Daily. Nobody truly concerned with this highway, and what it means for unions, would quote THAT site or THAT lying freeper.
I'm not that special. I'm no more insightful than anybody else. It doesn't take my whole day to keep up with this stuff. All it takes is a healthy amount of skepticism... something most people are afraid to do, lest they be called un-patriotic. It's a shame, but there is a sizable population out there who are helpless cult members.

32. RiM left off "bigoted".... |
|
... Hence, the answer to your question is "no" - they don't CARE about how ignorant they are, so long as their bigotted desires are satisfied.
They've shown that they arer willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING just so that women will be 2nd class citizens, gay folks don't get equal rights, black folks lose theirs, mexicans never get 'em, and muslims lose their rights and their lives.
The support of bigotry is by far the #1 most important thing to the typical republican voter, imo.
So yah - calling them "ignorant idiots" will not be helpful in the least. But not because they'll react defensively, or something like that. It's just that they don't care how stupid they are. All they have are their prejudices.

It's all about fear-mongering. And the right-wing does a better job of it than we do. All that bigotry you mentioned is because if women aren't treated as second-class citizens, gay folks get equal rights, Black folks have equal rights, Mexicans have rights, and Muslims have rights, then those who perceive themselves at the head of the line might just lose their place. It's all about one-up, one-down. No such thing as equals, or equal personal power, or empowerment of any kind. And the head-of-the-line stuff is a myth, too.
