This is how protesters in SF stood up to the corporate media (VIDEO)
This is footage from March 20, 2003, the night of the commencement of the Iraq War.

http://www.bioticbakingbrigade.org/movies/jolly.pie.mov

And by the way, what kind of a stupid name is "Jennifer Jolly"? Sounds like a stage name for a stripper. Yeah, I'm going to take the news real seriously from some bimbo named "Jennifer Jolly".

3. That's bullshit slamming a pie into that female reporter's face.
Edited on Sat Jul-08-06 10:33 PM by cboy4
You can work for a FOX affiliate and have nothing to do with FOX News....there are even liberal reporters.

I happen to know.

KTVU 2 in Oakland is owned by COX Communications, it is not a FOX owned and operated station and therefore it does not take orders from FOX News.

It's editorial staff is comprised of local people from the Bay Area.

The person who threw that pie is a little bitch coward.

Our side is better than that type of behavior.

5. her slant was obviously biased
Note that she spent all her time attacking the anti-war crowd. The pie-toss was a trivial matter, it created a circus atmosphere, which is what we were getting from corporate news to begin with.

COX/FOX, what's the difference? I get the slant either way.

6. I don't care what she said. She did not deserve to have pie splattered all
over her work clothes.

If it had been me, I would have picked up my cameraman's tripod and cracked it over the head of the pie thrower.

Sorry but you assault someone (and that's what that was, an assault) then you risk getting very injured.

How's that for slant.

7. Tensions were running high that day...
People were fed up with the corporate media for cheerleading our way into a war of chimp-choice.

She was being an asshole and deserved the pie (IMO.....I watched it as it happened on Market Street)

My friend and I ran a news crew out of Tommy's Joynt the night before. We were in the middle of dinner when they arrived to get reaction to the Iraq invasion from the diners there. We screamed that they themselves were cheerleaders for the war, and that it was going to be a slaughter of innocent people. They packed up their shit and left the restaurant.

Fuck 'em!

8. You wouldn't have intimidated me. In fact, I would have put your screaming
face all over the news to make you look like the jackass you were that night.

I guess you don't see how your behavior makes you sound even less intelligent than a freeper.

You're chasing away a news crew....not knowing a single fuckin thing about the political beliefs of that reporter or that photographer.

That's being a bigot. When you group a class of people together and judge.

It doesn't matter whether they're journalists or African Americans or Gays or Latinos. It's being a bigot.

Lets hope you're not one of those.

9. That's total bullshit...
I watched their crap in the lead-up to the war. I'm a news junkie! I knew every fucking thing about how they reported it.

It's time people started standing up to these assholes. The anchor people who show obvious bias, or even ignorance to what these events mean.....deserve to be scorned. They are fucking traitors, in my opinion.

Hey.....I even harass totally innocent news roadies (drivers, technicians etc), and I don't care what their political persuasions are. I tell 'em to go carry my message back to their boss.

It's time for a revolution dude, and they are not always pretty or polite!

16. The first thing you need to do (besides seek psychological
assistance) is to distinguish between the facists.

Labeling all reporters as facists is no different than labeling all black people as thieves just because a black person holds up a liquor store now and then.

I'm sorry you have emotional issues and lets hope you get the help you need before you upgrade from pies to 9mm pistols.

Edited on Sun Jul-09-06 05:45 PM by Webster Green
Some of them are fascist enablers, either by ignorance or tacit complicity.

Both of the media whores in question, and the nature of their reporting was well known to me, so I don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

Enough is enough!

I know it when I see it, and the fourteen defining characteristics are all over the web. I'm sure you've probably seen them, and I'm too lazy to go find a link for you.

I don't know if you're lazy, but you do sound like a militant.

I know I wouldn't want you to attend my anti-war demonstrations.

You're the one that gives us a bad name.

There's a big difference between passion and aggression.

You need to open your eyes about that.

28. Get a grip dude...
"I know I wouldn't want you to attend my anti-war demonstrations."

Really?.....You organize anti-war demonstrations?

I've never done anything violent at any of the many, many anti-war demonstrations I've taken part in. I have been arrested for civil disobedience (first time was in 1967). I'm very proud of my arrests at demonstrations, thank you. I came extremely close to arrest on the 20th and 21st of March, 2003 in San Francisco, but managed to slip out of the corral. Heh!

BTW.....I think you are a cop wanna be. You are the one who has advocated violence as retaliation to pie throwing, yet you accuse me of being the violent one.

29. That's too bad you got away in S.F. -- The D.A. probably would have sent
you a nice, fat bill for all of the damage you were probably responsible for.

Instead, it was the taxpayers who had to pay for everything.

Oh, and I have no problem with anybody, including you, defending themselves against attack.

Why?

For one thing, if you (Webster Green) knows that I'm going to seriously damage your face if you throw a pie at me while I'm doing my job, I bet you're probably going to go pick on someone else who is less likely to defend themselves like I'm prepared to do.

11. double-standard?
Edited on Sun Jul-09-06 09:03 AM by ngant17
You mean, it's okay for conservative reactionaries to retaliate by cracking the skulls of anti-war protesters with metal objects, but it's a felonious offense for peaceniks to smear redi-whip cream on the shoulder of a rightwing TV commentator? She didn't even get the pie in her face from the footage I saw.

Legally, she could have sued for dry-cleaning damages to her clothing from the redi-whip but don't think using a machine gun or pipe on the man would have been justified in this situation. It's just like the Nazis going on a mindless rampage against Jews, simply for feeling like they were being insulted. You have an obligation to act civilized.

This is civil disobedience and non-violent protest. The biotic baking brigade is both of that and nothing more. What are you gonna do, try to upgrade the charges to treason and terrorism? Won't happen in my book.

This is the type of double-standard that we always see from an illegal regime which is becoming a totalitarian dictatorship.

12. Well, I'm not a conservative and yes, I would have retaliated
if I got hit with the pie.

I wouldn't use and machine gun, but the person would have a broken face if he/she attacked me.

Doesn't it sound a little foolish that so-called "peaceniks" are involved in any activity that involves aggression?

Throwing objects at people, even just pies, is an act of aggression.

If a stranger walked into your office and smeared a pie all over your face, I wonder what your reaction would be. I doubt you'd just sit there, would you?

19. depends on the flavor
I think I would prefer the French apple pie, they make a far better apple pie than we do.

Throwing objects at people, that includes throwing confetti at war heros during a parade. Throwing rice at weddings. That isn't agression. Throwing objects at people, it depends on the object and it depends on the extenuating circumstances.

Okay, it would shock me to get the pie in my face working as a journalist covering a peace protest, but maybe that would give me enough experience to dodge the US bullets while working an an indy journalist in Baghdad. I suspect the life expectancy of journalists covering peace-protests are much higher than the indy, non-embedded journalists in Iraq right now.

4. I was there when that happened, it was great.
That was one of the most amazing protests I've been to. We had Market Street closed all day.

Her are some pics I took early in the day as protesters started blocking intersections, starting at the Ferry Building and working our way down Market Street.

27. Because the most wonderful city in the country got trashed by not a lot -
but a few groups of people who lost sight of the mission.

The mission was to protest the war.

The mission was to advertise what a killer George W Bush is.

The mission was to illustrate how many innocent people were going to die in this illegal act of aggression.

Instead, you had some selfish people with their own agendas, who felt they had to be the center of attention instead of the war.

They threw newspaper stands through store windows, they broke windows, they spray painted the city.

Even the very liberal mayor....you know, the one who approved the gay marriages, was outraged and furious.

So yea, whoa.
