1. Speaking as a pro photographer....
Edited on Sat Jul-08-06 11:48 PM by OwnedByFerrets
get a new promo pic made. It needs some color in the background to separate it from the suit. Have your photog use an appropriate gel.
As far as the site layout, I like the second one the best.

2. Of all three, I like the second link visually for the layout
And I agree with the other poster (#1) who discussed the photo -- there isn't enough contrast in the pic between the background and the suit, and that washes out the pic.

3. #2
And definitely get a different pic. He looks very, very grumpy. Can he ditch the shades, too? Not only are they painfully 1970s, but dark glasses make a person look like he's got something to hide. People want to see the man's eyes.

5. I like #3....my eye catches his photo quicker than #2......but either way,
he needs to smile.

Tom Delay looked happier in his jail photo ;)

6. #2 has the best layout
There is a tendency for the eyes to go to the upper left of a web page first, and it's sort of jarring to see the building with his photo to the right of it.

I agree about the glasses. Wire-rimmed glasses or frameless glasses would be nice. He also needs a better haircut (there's too much hair), a different change of clothes, (something less dour), and a wee bit of a smile would be nice.

I'm not saying all this to be mean, it's just my honest impression.

:hi:

9. Smile, lose the shades
unless it is a kennedyesque outdoors windblown dynamic angle, Mainly it is the turn of the lip. Screw the thumb nail graduation yearbook portraits and go for a dynamic story photo. Enthusiasm, strength,. intelligence and determination.

I am not a pro photographer. The worst I ever saw was the large uglified glossy of our curly haired mug, Randy Kuhl. We could have won the election if we did nothing else but juxtapose that shot next to young Samara's using dynamisms I mentioned above.

Too many shots look like someone is running to be the next respectable middle-aged dentist or banker in town. Then there is the conventional rolled up sleeves, family, small town warm-hearted stuff or the fighter for rights. These have become cliches to avoid as much as they seem also a campaign requirement. I don't know where the PR scientists get their rulebook but not taking chances and being dull as dishwater seems to opt for general safety as the indicator of gravitas rather than charisma on fire. Rage is too often chosen as the charismatic breakthrough, schmaltz as the palliative to colorlessness. Then, overthinking and phony image is a problem. Democrats have the enviable, non-competitive luxury of having the sole proprietorship of the banner of reason, compassion and social responsibility and should simply be themselves on fire for doing just that.

10. Ok, I'll play...
Um, Distric 26 of what state?

Agree with # 2 as best, and vote for a new pic too.

Perhaps put the capitol picture on the right?
