Army discharged 1,000 for personality disorders in '05
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-army09.html

WASHINGTON -- The Army discharged more than 1,000 soldiers last year for personality disorders, the reason it gave for this year's discharge of a private now accused of raping a young Iraqi woman and killing her and her family.

That total represents about 1.2 percent of the 83,000 soldiers given early discharges in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2005. That was a bit higher than less than 1 percent discharged for that reason in the 2001 fiscal year before the war in Iraq began.

Lt. Gen. Kevin Kiley, the Army's surgeon general, said Friday that the disorder usually is not associated with combat trauma and may be a lifelong problem not always easy to identify in military screenings.

Many still perform well

Notice AP is still identifying the 14-year-old girl who was raped and murdered as a woman. The fuckers.

9. Well, since they are now recruiting Skinheads, Klansmen and
aryan supremacists for the U.S. Army they are killing two birds with one stone. They can have sick minded racists go to the ME to kill brown people while at the same time teaching them to use and handle military weapons in preparation for the coming race war that those hate groups are planning for America.

I was just thinking this morning...maybe it is better that we "fight them over there instead of over here" because "over here" means an out and out race war between Americans based on skin color. At least, IMO that is what it would turn into.

2. This makes me think of a book I read once.
I think it was called Mind Control and I had to read it many many years ago. But it was about the men that we and the British would not take into the army and it was in line with the number of people who were in the mental health field in each country. We had more in the field so of course we said more men were un-fit. It stuck in my mind and I often wondered if it was right? I have also seen a like study on kids and crime. Course this all be Mind Control at its best.

4. I wonder about this.
How are they "diagnosing" these personality disorders? Who has the discretion? It's not like diagnosing chicken pox.

Some of this is misleading. We're talking about kids of 18 to what, 25? Most personality disorders don't even kick in until then. It's not like the Army was fooled -- the condition wasn't really "pre existing" at all.

And, for that matter, Army life would normally work for a lot of people with personality disorders because they need a lot of structure and support. Urban warfare, not so much.

And I'm sure that these folks are encouraged to seek mental health treatment. Yeah, right.

5. What do you think the percentage of personality disorders is....
AFTER these men and women finish (if they're ever allowed to) their hitches in the service? If it's 1% now I'm sure that number increases exponentially after they're finished. What sort of people are the Pentagon releasing into the general public after years of witnessing war crimes, torturing prisoners and having carte blanch to kill just about anyone they please in Iraq an Afghanistan? There's a lot of ticking time-bombs running around and with bush's cuts to veterans benefits they're not going to get the help they need readjusting to civilian life.

6. It's going to be a terrible mess. We have to find a way to
advocate for these returning vets because they will need help getting help and the system they're being released into is going to try to dump them.

8. I am no doctor but I suspect Tim McVeigh had a "personality disorder" too
From some of the court documents I read about his case it sure sounded like it.

10. The Group "W" Bench
"Kid, I want
you to go and sit down on that bench that says Group W .... NOW kid!!"

And I, I walked over to the, to the bench there, and there is, Group W's
where they put you if you may not be moral enough to join the army after
committing your special crime, and there was all kinds of mean nasty ugly
looking people on the bench there. Mother rapers. Father stabbers. Father
rapers! Father rapers sitting right there on the bench next to me! And
they was mean and nasty and ugly and horrible crime-type guys sitting on the
bench next to me. And the meanest, ugliest, nastiest one, the meanest
father raper of them all, was coming over to me and he was mean 'n' ugly
'n' nasty 'n' horrible and all kind of things and he sat down next to me
and said, "Kid, whad'ya get?" I said, "I didn't get nothing, I had to pay
$50 and pick up the garbage." He said, "What were you arrested for, kid?"
And I said, "Littering." And they all moved away from me on the bench
there, and the hairy eyeball and all kinds of mean nasty things, till I
said, "And creating a nuisance." And they all came back, shook my hand,
and we had a great time on the bench, talkin about crime, mother stabbing,
father raping, all kinds of groovy things that we was talking about on the
bench. And everything was fine, we was smoking cigarettes and all kinds of
things, until the Sargeant came over, had some paper in his hand, held it
up and said.

"Kids, this-piece-of-paper's-got-47-words-37-sentences-58-words-we-wanna-
know-details-of-the-crime-time-of-the-crime-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-
you-gotta-say-pertaining-to-and-about-the-crime-I-want-to-know-arresting-
officer's-name-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-you-gotta-say", and talked for
forty-five minutes and nobody understood a word that he said, but we had
fun filling out the forms and playing with the pencils on the bench there,
and I filled out the massacre with the four part harmony, and wrote it
down there, just like it was, and everything was fine and I put down the
pencil, and I turned over the piece of paper, and there, there on the
other side, in the middle of the other side, away from everything else on
the other side, in parentheses, capital letters, quotated, read the
following words:

("KID, HAVE YOU REHABILITATED YOURSELF?")

I went over to the sargent, said, "Sargeant, you got a lot a damn gall to
ask me if I've rehabilitated myself, I mean, I mean, I mean that just, I'm
sittin' here on the bench, I mean I'm sittin here on the Group W bench
'cause you want to know if I'm moral enough join the army, burn women,
kids, houses and villages after bein' a litterbug." He looked at me and
said, "Kid, we don't like your kind, and we're gonna send you fingerprints
off to Washington."
