Republicans think America is too weak to be safe AND free
This is the theme for 2006:

Republicans think America is weak, Democrats don't.

Republicans want to allow the terrorists to change America, Democrats don't.

Republicans want to give up rights out of fear, Democrats don't.

Republicans are afraid of freedom, Democrats aren't.

2. Don't hold your breath
Democrats have had ample "themes" to run on but do you hear those crickets chirping? By the way I like what you say and only wish some Democrats would pick up on them...

3. O, I'm not holding my breath
Republican incompetance in governing is only surpassed by the Democrats' icompetance in campaigning.

Seems to me that, since Republicans are so good at campaigns, and Democrats are better at governing, we ought to let the Republicans run all the campaigns, but let the Democrats do the governing.

5. Excellent, excellent, excellent!
It exposes the Repukes for what they are: an unsavory combination of power-freaks who want to control what people think, do and say, as well as wimpy little momma's boys, who see authority as the way to keep them safe. And in their world, "safe" means "don't make me have to change anything, give anything up, or heaven forbid -- go fight myself!"

I wish some wise Dem politician uses your slogans -- they really hit it on the head.

8. How can we get this message to the DNC?
What are the avenues for suggesting slogans and ideas?

All I can do so far is make bumperstickers: http://cafepress.com/docpolitic

How can we convince the DNC and the Dem politicians to attack Republicans on their cowardice?

6. Spot on.
Moreover I don't believe Neoconservatives want us to be free or safe. They make more money when we are fearful and enslaved...because their agenda has nothing to do with democracy.

10. You know not all democratic politicians would like for you to
think this way... there are crooks on every side of the isle... they need to do a little sheep hearding themselves in order to keep on keeping on. I think that we need to remember that politics is a debate, a fine dance between words to sway an opponent.. a duel with tongues. Compromise is the goal for achievement. Polarizing like we have doesn't help. We are now reduced gradeschool matches in the recess yard over dodge ball. I thought when I was a child grownups knew so much. They were so mature... Boy was I wrong.

I'm a lot more worried about our debt than any so-called terrorists. That, and fascism.

God, repubs are so shallow.

edit- Yay! Let's start framing the issues now. I like it.

19. Excellent points
Republicans are too scared to insist on their civil liberties. They are willing to cower in fear, and if our rights are given up, or taken from us, they will meekly submit, as long as they can find someone to protect them. They're nothing but a bunch of wusses.

Also...welcome to DU:hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi:

20. Nonsensical sound bites to frame the opposition -- How Rovian. How lame.
I do not accept that ordinary Americans can't think for themselves. I do not accept that political games are more important than informed debate. For the past six years I've ridiculed the Republican party for their divisive, lame assed, lock step, idiotic message discipline. I'm not about to pick up the practice now.

I'd rather lose than parrot such meaningless, insincere pap. The biggest problem with the neo-fascist Republicans of today is their singular obsession with winning (and stealing) elections and maintaining power. Everything is politics to them. I'm not about to start following their example and I'd doubt you'd find much support for this strategy among progressives and liberals. We're liberals because we think for ourselves and we trust our own judgment as much as or more than our leaders'. We don't bow to authority or do what we're told.

If you want to spark a movement among us, you have to be sincere, inspirational, and have the courage of your convictions. Sloganeering and jingoism ain't gonna do it.
