Poll question: Will there be war with China in the future?
Because of the debt or ANY other concerns?

1. No, because the US is not going to take on any equal enemy
Deterrence will work because the Chinese have WMDs. The only reason we go against the middle eastern countries is because they don't have them.

3. But China, who won't want to pay the middle man (the US) for the oil,
will want it for themselves.

Will they wait and buy out a company? Oops, already tried. And we were told it wouldn't go through...

6. Let's hope it never comes to a "telephone call" war.
I mean by that, either China or the U.S. calls the other on the phone to tell them that a hundred nukes are pointed at their cities from space based locations and that there is no defense.

8. America will become a Marxist state first
Never happen. I would expect the US to have a Marxist-Leninist president before that would happen.

9. Why bother? The Chinese only need to be patient.
The American Empire is crumbling under it's own weight, greed, and hubris. All the Chinese have to do is pick up the pieces when we bankrupt ouselves trying to defend what is no longer ours.

12. and that's what will bring the war.
as our civilization crumbles under the weight of out of control economic policies and squeezing the middle class -- the hair on fire--uber patriots like bill gertz will fan the fires of war.

and in america -- there is always a willing ear for war -- both among the profiteers and the general public.

10. The idea of the supremacy of China
is one I have never bought into. There are way too many obstacles. They are still behind technologically. Like or hate our version of capitalism, but it is still preferable to the confused hodge podge of whatever it is that China has. They suffer from being too big and too populous so that a significant fraction of their energy is simply focused on internal issues and conflicts. They have a good deal of natural resources but not so many as you'd think of a nation that large because a good chunk of their land is pretty unforgiving.

China has been the "next Superpower" for about 30 years now.

Quite frankly, I'd be much more worried about Russia.

11. Yes.
The future is a very, very long time. Maybe not this century; probably this millennium, but if not this one, then the next.

Assuming that there's some coherent interpretation for "China" at the time.

14. 1964 --Three teen girls (me and friends) playing Ouija board
We asked the question if there would be WWIII? Answer yes. Who with?
The answer was China. We were 13 years old at the time. Scared me from ever playing with a Ouija board again. Still get goose bumps thinking about it.

And, there hadn't been any discussions in my home about wars or China or anything. Don't know about the other girls.
