They own us..
American citizens in the early 21st century are for all practical purposes naked and defenseless in terms of their personal privacy and identity (and therefore all other rights-- as described below).

This fact of life leaves Americans effectively begging to be abused and victimized by business, government, and criminals across-the-board. And makes terrorists perhaps the least of the real threats to our well-being, by comparison.

1. I agree, UP
that terrorists are rather far down the list of threats. Perhaps their threat is more dramatic but the eroding of our liberties and prosperity, while quieter, is more damaging.

2. Does anyone think that these measures will be rescinded
when the pukes are out of power? I've wondered this and have sadly concluded that they will probably keep most of it, though will probably throw a bone to restoring civil liberties in order to assuage us.

Maybe I've become more cynical, but I've seen it is much more difficult to dismantle a bad law than to get it passed in the first place. Kind of like the old adage that it's easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Believe me, I hope I'm wrong.

3. Power tends to concentrate
to the fewest hands when the many don't fight for their own rights and protect them..So,I doubt it,a few might with a big show to prove how different the incumbent is from the evil regime,to get people comfortable and back into denial , but I think the crap that really counts to us, will be left untouched.Because no matter who is elected the corporate/military/industrial side of things still remains secretive, too wealthy, protected, untouchable and unaccountable for the most part to the citizens it exploits.

4. I agree totally, and it's hard to contemplate what we've let happen to us.

6. Not me, because...
I figure they don't have the brains to interpet the information at their disposal. They are suffering from an elite education that serves to mollify any doubt. Hurrah! for entrophy, may they decay faster than others progress.

They don't know that nobody has all the answers and if it comes in three flavors it's neopolitan.
