Spread Abeer's picture far and wide. (Iraq's "napalmed girl")
Abeer was only 14 when she was stalked, raped, murdered and burned. Here is her picture on her ID card. Spread it on. (Thank you leftchick for posting this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1598009#1598098)

A citizenship identification card issued by the Iraqi government in 1993 shows Abeer Qasim Hamza al-Janabi with a date of birth of August 19, 1991, as translated from the identity card in this handout photo from her relatives in Baghdad July 9, 2006. Five U.S. soldiers were charged in a rape and multiple murder case that has outraged Iraqis, as documents obtained by Reuters on Sunday showed the rape victim was a minor aged just 14, and not over 20 as U.S. officials say. Accuse my of politicalizing her death and you will be right. She was murdered by USA soldiers after being tortured. She was 14 and I bet she had hopes and dreams and goals beyond this.

Damn straight I am going to use this to try and stop it from happening again.

Oh, not angry at you, angry at all this and those who support it.

Here's a couple pictures of 14 yr olds from a quick google search

9. reminds me of those scenes in Fahrenheit-911
Moore dared to show Iraqis as human beings living lives that we can recognize as normal human lives, when the only image our media and govt. want is a brutalized people waiting for us to liberate them. That's all they were, they weren't people, they are just data in the neocons' academic theories.

And remember the media's reaction to that short scene in the movie? The freaked out! How dare he show such a scene! Children didn't laugh in Saddam Hussein's Iraq, they're not going to laugh until we free them!

i think of my child at 14 yrs..and even 15 and he was still a little boy..going through puberty..

wtf is this country becoming..i am remembering Calley and vietnam..and feeling sick...

our media is a disgrace..and all i can say is the death of democracy has arrived full blown...in my nation..that i used to feel proud of..and no longer do..

is it only me (?) who has a hard time even looking at the american flag any longer..

i see them flying and i look away..ashamed...

this was a little girl..a little girl who's life was snuffed out..for no damn reason...
a little girl who will not graduate school..who will not get married, who will not have children of her own...

who was raped , burned and discarded...in our name...

i feel so sick about this...

been, it would be foolish to think we didn't have these monsters stalking around at any given point in our country's history. And, unfortunately sometimes these people will act on their twisted instincts, but we can't simply become ashamed of our country every time something like this happens or even when we have people like Bush running it. Because they do not really represent what this country stands for, they never will. And if you think this is as bad as it can get then your wrong we could do much, much worse, which is horrible to think of because this was such an abomination itself. But if you think that people killing or making others suffer for their own pleasure is the dark side of humanity then you are very wrong, we can get much worse and if we ever go there then that is the day democracy will have died

from your post.." There will always be people like this in our country, there always have

been,"

not good enough for me..because someone else was evil and murdered someone ..we are supposed to believe there were always people like this in our country,..

i don't care what happened yesterday..and i don't care that it could be worse tommorrow or the day after tommorrow..this is worst to me today..and it is in my name..they are American soldiers wearing my uniform...and the uniform my grandfather , father, brothers and husband wore...to protect our constitution.. and our national security...

this was and is a war of filthy lies..i hold the man at the top and his admin responsible for that..but i will not let them get away with murder in my name..i hold them accountable..

i hold Johnson and Nixon responsible for Vietnam..and i hold Little lord pissy pants responsible for this war of lies..but i also hold him responsble in this war of lies for the murder of innocent people..each and every one of them , as our soldiers would not be there committing murder if it wasn't for a war of lies!

not in my name..not today, not tommorrow and not next year or last year!

according to your post..am i to forgive someone who goes and takes airplanes into buildings because people have always done that??

because they have...because since the beggining of man there has been terorrism...so because it always happens through history am i supposed to forgive them and look the other way>??

nope ..not me..not today and not tommorrow..

39. But we can and must get outraged and act on things like this.
We cannot sit by and say "it could be worse" and let this continue. People killing and making others suffer for their own pleasure IS the dark side of humanity. It can get worse, which is why we need to say "enough" now.

7. A girl who most likely never had been kissed
Maybe had never even been to Baghdad. A girl who had spent more than 20 percent of her young life living under American occupation.

There is nothing we can do those soldiers to make up for the way she died. Nothing we can do to ensure justice has been served.

But we must remember that this is a crime that reaches far beyond those five soldiers.

Those officers who tried to cover it up, who lied about her age, who blamed it on insurgents, are just as guilty.

And those war criminals in DC who invaded Iraq out of pure greed are just as guilty as well.

And I also blame all those politicians, including the democrats, who supported this war. And I blame the media for cheerleading them on.

And I blame those Americans who supported the war; those freedom fry fuckers who voted for Bush a second time around; those ignoramuses who poured their French wine into the streets when France refused to help us invade Iraq.

They all have blood on theirs hands. They all participated in this rape. They're all responsible for turning the United States into the 21st century Nazis.

8. Ask these questions too about the coverup and Steven Green
Was this the incident Steven Green was discharged for, sent back to civilian life in the USA? What follow-up mental health care did the military give him after discharging him? Who all should be held responsible for this?

Who all should be held responsible for all the atrocities that have happened? Hmmm, think I'll send this off to Maria Cantwell, my pro-invasion rep.

14. My youngest granddaughter will turn 13 this month
She is very much a little girl. She is not a woman, she is a child. Her parents do not let her stay alone when they can't be there, unless it's for a very short period of time, and then she gets about 30 minutes of safety instructions. I can not bear to think of what I would do if soldiers from an invading army did to her and my son and daughter-in-law what these troops did to her.

We are sowing the seeds of so much hatred in that poor country, and the rest of the Mideast, that the hatred will not die out in my lifetime, certainly, and probably not in my granddaughter's, either. I can find no way, no battle stress, no personality disorder, to excuse what they did to her. I can, however, say that there can be borderline cases of cruel people who know enough to exercise self control if their superiors don't look the other way when these abuses occur. Bush is responsible for much of the climate that allowed out of control troops to act on their urges.

Abeerq qasim hamza was just 15years old how can those american rapist burn a body of such a young girl?at least they could rape her and leave her alive,i told al maliki that all those iraqis who died, most of them were killed by americans after being raped.the rapist(u.s.soldiers)are killing as many women as possible, they make like this after rape the kill.that`s why we have 135,000 civilians dead in iraq since the invasion.some reports says, bush himself asked for a 12 year old girl to go and work at his house, and she is been raped everyday.all americans are rapist, murderers, robers and thieves.all evil things come from the u.s.

This terrible incident if proven is most unfavourabel to the US army. Every nation has its tainted elements. Let's see how the Americans investigate and render corrections to their army for their actions will condemn or uphold the principles of civilised behaviour their society is based upon. Every nation should be given opportunities to redeem themselves in the eyes of the World. Condemnations should come after not before the chance is given.

WHEN AN AMERICAN SOLDIER OR SOLDIERS COMMIT CRIMES IN AMERICA, ONLY THOSE SOLDIERS BEAR THE RESPONSIBILITY. ON THE CONTRARY, WHEN SOMEONE EXPECTED TO BE A MEMBER OF HAMAS KILLS AN ISRAELI, THE WHOLE OF PALESTINE IS PUNISHED. THIS APPROACH INFACT IS SUPPORTED BY THE EVIL AMERICAN EMPIRE. WHY CAN'T WE BLAME AMERICA FOR THE CRIMES IN IRAQ INSTEAD OF THOSE INDIVIDUAL SOLDIERS!! GEORGE BUSH I LER. HE IS A RACIST AND A FACIST. Our military is out of control and GW Bush has done nothing as commander-in-chief to stop these heinous crimes against the Iraqi people. The US news agencies report that the main perpatrater Steven Green in Charlotte NC has been discharged from the Army. He should be arrested and extradited to trial under Iraqui authorites after an investigation by the US army. This kind of attrocity cannot be tolerated and the perpitrators need to be brought to justice ASAP

This is indeed a horrible crime...and yes the soldiers who did this crime must face punishment and should be no less than what they would get for doing such a crime here in the States...I sure hope that the world can still realize, however, that ALL Americans ARE NOT like this! I am American and I am always saddened by the brutality of any human being . I don't care where they live or what their religion is. Unfortunately these things have been happening since the beggining of time. I never agreed with this war. However there was brutality going on before the "invaders" came in. I do believe that some troops believe they are there for good reasons and others are sick and psycologically damaged. I pray for the families of these people who are being treated in such a barbaric way. I really would like to see troops in a place such as Africa where people are being killed by everyday. I'm not on one side or the other. I am on the side of goodness and seeing anyone who would treat another human in such a animalistic way punished. As a mother I am deeply saddened. I can only imagine what the family went through.

To blame this on the US military or the West as a whole is simply wrong. Dont even go there. That being said these individuals are monsters plain and simple. I understand that the two soldiers who were kidnapped and tortured were part of this same unit. Retribution killings? It would not surprise me and would in my opinion possibly even be justified. If that is so the perpetrators of this crime have their fallen soldiers blood on their hands. These men deserve the worst punishment possible. Death would be far to easy a sentence. I could think of a lot worse things to do to these people that would serve justice far better. Probably be best to just hand these animals over to the Iraqis. Or better yet to the victims family members. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of these poor victims.

These soldiers will face the law. They will be punished if they are found guilty. This is how a democracy works for thoughs of you on here that dont seem to get it. What I find funny is this doesnt report the thousands of rapings going on in the middle east that are just as henious. Its a common thing in the middle east to rape a woman in a family that has insulted another family as payback. But yet this site will report something that is being punished and people that are being held accountable.... funny

It took the world more than 35 years to know their barbaric act in Vietnams, no body knows how long will take the world to know all inhuman against innocents Iraqis, it is interesting to see all their crime is happening under slogan of “Democracy” for Iraq, shame to Arabs leaders, it is disgrace not only for crusaders even for entire world.

Standard Comment (Click to Rate) elie.granger from USA

Wildcat, the issue is not about other rapes. The topic here is about the rape of the 15-year old girl and the murder of her and her family committed by those who invaded their country and claim to "free" them. It would be appropriate to discuss rapes in the middle east if you are discussing rapes in general. In the U.S. a woman is raped every minute. It is also one of the largest destination countries for human trafficking where foreign girls are turned into slaves. Stick to the subject. Also, understand, that the U.S. is a republic, not a pure democracy. What works for one country, doesn't necessarily work for another. Europe has several socialist countries. It works for them, where it would not work for the U.S. Understand?

We have the rule of law! If found guilty they will be put to death or grow old in jail! Like the ones found guilty for there actions at Abu Greib prison! If all of our soldiers are as evil as most of you say. After three years of war, no Iraqi would be alive! Have the insurgents built one school, hospital, road or bridge? No, they just blow them up along with 1000 Iraqis a month!! Not to worry. Since were so hated, after this wars over, The U.S. will never help another country in need ever again! Many of you are very hateful people. It does not matter what good the U.S. does or attempts to do. You will still hate the U.S. These soldiers need to be punished very severely. Their supervisors should also be punished. I've worked in Mahmudiyah for months. I honestly can say that the Americans have been trying to help the Iraqi people. Why don't you speak of the medical treatment the Americans are providing the Iraqi's. Why don't speak about the building of roads and water treatment facilities. U.S. soldiers are attacked every single day. The only thing the U.S. soldiers want is to help get the Iraqi economy going so that we can go home. We want Iraq to stop killing each other. Some of you blame Americans for killing all of the civilians. This is wrong. yes there has been an occassional accidental killing by Americans but it is very rare. The majority of the killings are Iraqi killing Iraqi. Stop blaming the U.S. for everything and wake up to what is really go on.

I am American. I think I can speak for most Americans when I say: WE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS WAR. WE DO NOT SUPPORT THE VIOLENCE IN IRAQ. We think of our soldiers everyday, and hope they come home soon. We think of the Iraqi people and hope these people find peace and abundance(s) for their families. Please DO NOT generalize the American Population, because a majority of us HATE what is going on in Iraq, and it saddens us every single day. I know that if the world as a whole understood WE ARE ALL ONE, we would repect eachothers lives and beliefs. Noone is better than another. Killing someone else is a killing of yourself. Can't the whole world see that? Can't we choose our own spiritual path without judgement? Because the bottom line is: WE ARE ALL ONE. What we do to other people we do to ourselves.

Well, the US military did what it always does when a soldier is accused of raping a local girl...They give the rapist an honorable discharge and send him home to the USA. Rape and murder of innocent girls has commonly occurred around military bases in different parts of the world, without bringing the rapist to justice. In this case fortunately, the Iraqi people took justice in their own hands and killed four of the rapist's brother soldiers from the same checkpoint.

I do not blame the American soldiers for all the crimes they have been committing. I do know thousands of Iraqi have been killed and tortured by these young men who were ex-convicts, homeless and never had any guidance in their lives. I blame Bush, Cheney and the whole circle of greedy, oil hungry men who went to Iraq to destroy everything in order to get the oil. That is why time and time again they give flimsy explanation to the thousands of crimes against humanity. They broke their own Christian laws, but they use their religion to control others. "THOU SHALL NOT ENVY THY NEIGHBOR'S WEALTH" Yet these leaders invaded Iraq for the oil. Properly raised children are not sent to war, only misfits are sent and without training even to do the crime properly. There is nothing I can do to stop this ugly war against humanity. I cry a lot, I attended rallies and I pray for a miracle for Iraqis to live in peace in their homeland.

However when a palestinian picks up a sling shot to fend of tank HE IS A TERRORIST, when an iraqi fight for the freedom of his land HE IS A TERRORIST, when a muslim is practising he religon in the west HE IS A TERRORIST (and ends up in Gitmo). So this is the real war on terror. Raping under-age girls and killing their fathers, mothers and baby-sisters? Or is it about killing pregant women on their way to hospital cos they didn't happen to stop at a checkpoint? Or is about slaying the first entire family (whether they be young old, diabled, woman, man or child) cos a roadside bomb went off in the vacinity and killed one of your comrades? US actions speaks volumes. You want freedom for Iraq when you value Iraqi life so little that you don't do Iraqi body counts, equate compensation for an iraqi killed in error and US person equally? You expect us to believe they rapists and murders will die for their crime? Why shouldn't we blame all Americans for these atrocities, you blame all Palestinians. One Israeli soldier is kidnapped BUT IS BEING TREATED WELL and is ALIVE. How many Palestinians have died in the last two weeks? Has any of your governments voiced any outrage against Israel. 29. Thank you for posting that. Not just heinous crime,s but coverups too
It is NOT just the fact that a teenager was raped, murdered and mutilated, AND a 5 yr old was murdered, AND their parents were murdered, but the fact that this was presented as the rape of an adult and her family (still horrible but lacking that emotional impact a child would bring) and covered up by the military and they discharged this known rapist murderer back into the USA civilian world. Pretend it didn't happen, blame it on someone else and deny deny deny. After all, it is war.

Some of us strongly believe that this is not an isolated incident, that there is so much that has happened and covered up. Time to use this incident to shove it in people's faces "this is what is being done in your name. Remember those last couple soldiers who were beheaded? Probably in response to this crime". Support the troops? Bring them home, get them the hell out of this nasty situation, this quagmire, this horrible thing because it will only get worse.

And vote to get control of 1 branch of the government out of the cabal's hand in November.

When I look at her and other Iraqi children who are the victims of U.S. WAR CRIMES I think of my own children and imagine how I would feel if that happened to them. One of mine is only a year younger then when this happened to her. I believe U.S forces are being psychologically trained to commit acts like this in an attempt to demoralize and break the Iraqi people. It reminds me of what happened in Bosnia/Chechnya. 34. Why do these idiots still try to cover up her age?
If you come out and say straight out that one of our soldiers was involved in the rape and murder of a 14 year old girl and her family and we are doing everything we can to bring those that did this to justice we might not incite so much hate and anger against us. But when these assholes in the Bush administration (I'm sure any effort to cover up any facts is comming directly from them) try to cover up any fact that they can it shows that our government is not seriously trying to stop something like this from happening again.

How can the american people be so fucking arrogant to what this "administration" is doing. Over and over something like this happens yet I still have people around me at work and other places ranting how the republicans are full of moral values and how the liberals want to destroy us. Please, please help me understand how a human can look at that picture and not be filled with anger and disgust at the cowards that did this but instead be filled with an ambition to cover up what our "soldiers" did for the lone sake of protecting their political views?

I wish I lived in a world where EVERYONE worked to the best of their ability to make sure fourteen- year-old girls are safe in their own homes.

This isn't about us and them, or about military vs. non-military, or about politics.

It's about justice. And it's about the world we create for the people growing up in that world.

To be used and discarded like so much trash speaks to the depravity and darkness in the human soul.
