I don't know one gay person. I have no black friends.
I rejoice in the difference in people. I revel in it.

1. You don't know one *out* gay person
I'd bet money that you know some that are still in the closet though.

4. Indeed. But people also come from different places, and "knowing",
in fact, understanding what that path entails can make an important contribution to your friendship.

I hear the spirit of your statement, though.

14. Your point of reference sounds racist and homophobic...
Echoing "huh" isn't very enlightening. If you have an apparent Kafkaesque point to make, you're not succeeding.

9. Neither do I. Wait, that's a lie.
I know four black people; two of which I call a friend.

Don't know any gay people - apart from online, just like you. And I prefer those online, because those in the real world are too shallow and represent why GLBT folks aren't respected, AFAI am concerned. That or they forget "unity" when it comes to real friends and dating; oh, when there's a cause, that's when they want my involvement. Otherwise it's okay for them to laugh at me.

12. I have had many gay friends and black friends.
I do not discriminate against someone's sexual choice. And I do not consider someone's color when they are my friend.

You should say you don't KNOWINGLY know one gay person. And even I, a white protestant of German heritage, have at least one black uncle (whom, granted, I've never met). You never know what blood runs through those you think you know the best.

Postscript (upon dwelling upon the OP for a while)- I get it now. You're right, and I'm a jerk. No news there.

22. Interesting.
My best friend in kindergarten was a black girl with the same first name as me. She told me to call her "Chocolate" and I'd be "vanilla". My dad took us to the amusement park and I remember visiting her house and thinking how nice her parents were (this was 1956, btw-I was lucky to go to an integrated school). My father had several gay friends, including a really good artist. One of his gay friends I didn't like-the other I adored. I'm glad I was introduced to people of different colors and orientations early in life; it helped me to realize that people are people.

24. I don't understand
What issues do I have? I just mentioned people I knew as a child. I think it rather remarkable that during the '50s I knew out of the closet gays and that I went to an integrated school. If that's having "issues" I don't understand what they are.

25. What we have here is a failure to communicate.
Although I can't prove it, I _THINK_ he's trying
to say that he doesn't label people; gay or black,
they are still just people.

And I think that a few of us have already guessed
the source of the communication problem:
Swede is drunk off his ass!

Not just this thread; at least one other where he's ALMOST
making sense today.
As a PWI repeat-offender myself, the pattern looks awful familiar.

30. I personally regret not having black friends.
As a musician, I feel like I am missing out on more than half of the available creativity and musical energy due to not having any black friends. Of course, I don't have very many friends period, so that could be part of it, but still.

33. PEOPLE! He's saying that he doesn't see his gay friends as gay
or his black friends as black. He sees them only as friends.

This reminds me of the "South Park Flag"...
