1. The BA Purged all the CIA employees who failed...
the "loyalty to Bush" review/test (replete with Lie Detector tests) under Goss. Then many of the agencies most important programs and responsibilities were taken away, reassigned to Homeland this or Pentagon that...

Though, any honest, professional behavior by any U.S. Intelligence agency would no doubt hurt the Bush Administration (since it would be based on assessments of the "real world" rather than the "Bush reality"). One day, it would behoove us to try to restore the honesty, professionalism, non-partisan independence to our government agencies (all of them; since all of them have sought to purge Democrats, liberals/progressives or anyone not perceived as being 'loyal').

11. That's what it was created for. There was never an intent to do anything
about security. It was about making money.

3. `There may be some sane people in the CIA, but calling them "a
secret faction" sounds an awful lot like the talking points of the right wing nutters who try to claim that Nixon was ousted by some such conspiracy rather than as a result of his own criminality. Plus it is inaccurate and misleading wnen it comes to understanding how things actually work.

4. yes
i have believed this ever since bush used them as a scapegoat for his lies on the weapons of "mass distraction" that he claimed saddam had and the plame outing sealed the deal. they may be bastards but they do their best to keep other bastards from harming the usa...

5. the cia is also at odds with the fbi over the fbi`s
running around the world upsetting the network of cia contacts with other agents and double agents.with the outing of plame and the company she worked for, the cia in the middle east must be in disarray. the cia probaly see`s the fbi as an arm of the bush whitehouse..the non story of the holland tunnel seems to be payback...

6. I can't believe I now think the CIA are the good guys.
By the time Bush leaves office, I'll probably be rooting for the North Koreans. The political enemy of my president is my friend.

7. Key word: "faction" - there are both bad guys and good guys in the CIA
"The CIA" as such isn't defending democracy, "the CIA" as such didn't -become- the good guys.
It's just that the good guys in the CIA do occasionally score a victory.

9. Which is why I had a good laugh
last week when Bush (in Chigago)stated that some countries take their economic interests into consideration first when fighting terror and need to put fighting terror first. All of imperial policy in history has been about economic interests. Bush is beyond stupid or he believes most of humanity is dumb.

10. Very true - but some CIA employees think differently
Though most of those quit the agency when they find out how things really are.
