Rove:I would fire anyone blowing a CIA operative cover (Clinton question)
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 08:12 AM by robbedvoter
Delivering a question posed by Bill Clinton two nights before, Walter asked Rove what Rove would have done if Clinton's Chief of Staff had blown the cover of a CIA covert operative in order to punish her husband for telling the public a truth that the Administration preferred it not know. Rove took his recent toothskin thin exoneration and ran with it, saying that, had such a thing occurred, he would have condemned it in the strongest terms and demanded that the hypothetical Chief of Staff be summarily fired.
If on the other hand, such a charge had been thoroughly investigated and found to be utterly groundless, then people of good faith should respect the judgment fairly rendered by our system and get on with their lives. An attempt to follow up was lazily rebuffed with the standard-issue "can't comment on an on-going investigation" routine.

6. I so hope I'll get to use this one! Just like the Bush on impeachment
quote I saved ("I would have voted to impeach - he lied") This goes to the vault, next to the other.

5. "...found to be utterly groundless..."
I can agree with Rove's statement: "... If on the other hand, such a charge had been thoroughly investigated and found to be utterly groundless, then people of good faith should respect the judgment fairly rendered by our system and get on with their lives. ..."

In Rove's case, the charge was found to be well-grounded indeed. And based on Rove's own assessment, he should be summarily fired.

9. Reminder: MSM ran with the letter/fax/call profer sight unseen
The "clearance" was delivered in terms of "barring some future findings, it's unlikely he'll be indicted".
It was a plea, not a clearance.

14. do you remember how they crucified Clinton
claiming that they could not delay the Paula Jones case even though it was a misdemeanor
because it would mean that the President was above the law. Want to bet that this slime
ball has an indictment deferred until after 08 elections based on "National Security."
