Breaking : Brush fire out of control in Kansas - 1/2 acre burned so far. |
The NBC helicopter is on its way. We will bring you 3 hours of reporting once our reporter gets on the scene. There are some homes just a couple of miles away and an elementary school. The White House says they do not expect terrorism in this blaze. We will keep you updated as this story progresses... Back to you Chris...

7. Now let's go to Natalie for a witness that saw this fire... |
Yes, Chris, we have Maude Collins here and she was driving over to her daughter-in-law's house to pick up a ham from the hog they killed last winter. When she came up over the small hill, she saw a little bit of smoke. Her first thought was that it was some fog. But it now appears that someone threw out a cigarette butt and started this fire. The White House does not expect that it was done by a terrorist. But we'll get Maude up here and let her explain what she saw...

12. They have rescued a chipmunk that was in the line of the fire... |
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 10:59 AM by kentuck
A small girl was the first to see the chipmunk and started crying. "Please Mr Bush, don't let it die," she begged. Fortunately, one of our brave firemen was on the spot and captured the little creature in his lunch bucket and last report was that they were going to take it to an animal shelter in the neighboring state of Colorado. Back to you, Chris...

15. They did find a Marlboro cigarett butt... |
And the FBI is investigating all the convenience stores within a 100-mile radius to see if any swarthy males had bought any cigarettes? They will leave no stone unturned in their investigation. We now have a report that Homeland Security Chief, Michael Chertoff, will address the nation on this developing story in about 45 minutes. Of course, we will be there to cover his remarks...

16. I've noticed more chatter involving brush fires the past month |
I think there is a pattern here. I'm no Dick Cheney, but I keep noticing patterns involving "summer...winds...dry...brush fire" being transmitted over the airwaves in a pattern at 11pm nightly.
