Tucker Carlson now airs on MSNBC at 4, repeats at 6, on "Tucker"
TV Newser: Starting Today, It's 'Tucker'
Monday, Jul 10

(mediabistro.com)

Starting today, The Situation with Tucker Carlson is simply "Tucker." The program has a new name, a new timeslot, and a new emphasis. Starting today, Tucker will air at 4pm, and repeat at 6pm. (Expect the show to go live at 6pm on breaking news days.)

A couple weeks ago, Scott Collins reported that "Carlson will do more "media critiques" in addition to political talk and opinion. 'He'll look at how everyone is covering stories,' one insider said."

Eat the Press' Rachel Sklar says the segment will be called "Beat the Press." Also: The show "will focus more on Carlson's personality -- which means less use of outside commentators like Situation regulars Rachel Maddow and Max Kellerman (both are still expected to contribute to the show at times, but the focus will be on Carlson)."

MSNBC has also increased the size of the show's staff, TVNewser has learned. Sounds like Tucker has a fan in Jeff Zucker...

He's kinda cute, I just wish he'd lose the bow tie.

How long before this show is cancelled?

7. There is nothing cute about an asswipe political shill for Chucklenuts
There is nothing balanced, interesting or fair about his "reporting." He is just another airhead on MSNBC that takes up oxygen which contributes nothing but empty blather about Chucklenuts & The Cabal. Along with Joe Dead Intern Scarborough, Rita Gravel Girty Cosby, Tweety Matthews, and Potato Head Russert, F*cker the Bowtie is just another empty suit that is dragging NBC/MSNBC to the bottom of the ratings dump. Their only salvation? They get to rest on the rotting corpses of Faux news to keep them from actually sinking to the bottom.

If Keith Olbermann wasn't on at 8 pm each night with repeats at midnight and again at 9 am the next morning, MSNBC could go to a test pattern and offer more content.

14. I didn't post to recommend viewing. I thought it was interesting...
that MSNBC's new leadership was giving this twit a larger role, and a show renamed a Cher-like "Tucker."

9. good - now I'll miss him completely.
If I tuned 2 Countdown a minute tooo early, I would be subjected 2 his mug, top shirt button open, bow tie undone as if he was working hard yakking away. Now I don't have 2 be concerned w/ that.

13. Are they trying to fail?
What would make them put Tucker on at that time, let alone torture people by having him on twice.

15. Time to kill off his show - here's Abrams other brilliant idea
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 02:49 PM by RamboLiberal
Abrams Puts Viewers In The Control Room

Part of Dan Abrams' plan to differentiate MSNBC involves opening "to the viewers the process of making a news program," Michele Greppi reports.

"Abrams plans to use shots of the control room during broadcasts and make viewers privy to the conversations between anchors and producers, he said. 'It's urgent. It's not fake. It's real,' Mr. Abrams said. 'In the control room, there is often some degree of chaos. The viewer should see more of the process.'" (ICN disagrees.)

"Expect to see more of it in the days and weeks to come," Abrams added.

> Also: Abrams said the July 4 missile launch didn't merit wall-to-wall coverage. "We are going to continue to be the source for the most important stories of the day," he said. "Does that mean that every time there is a big story we are going to air six hours of live programming around it? Not necessarily."

IMHO the Abrams era at MSNBC is going to be a freakin' disaster!

18. the problem with watching Keith
is that you have to really be quick in order to get the channel changed before whatever follows him comes on -- used to be deep throated Rita.
I haven't had to move so fast since Colin Quinn followed The Daily Show.

21. How many new show formats has Tucker had in the past year?
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 03:51 PM by Blue Belle
He moved over from CNN after Jon Stewart skewered him... Then he had Rachel Maddow on for a while... now he's just Tucker. How many lateral moves need to be made before the networks realize he has no talent. I guess I'll stay tuned - it appears Rita Cosby is going through the same process.

I'd love to see what the rating would be like if they replaced Tucker with Donahue. But then again having 2 liberal infotainment hosts would just be caving to the Liberal Media. :eyes:

22. Notice how conservatives with failed TV shows get plenty of second chances
and fresh money... but popular, moneymaking TV shows featuring progressive hosts and issues are canceled regardless.

While mainstream news is dominated these days by the right wing, it's not like there aren't any wealthy progressives with pull in the media industry or the ability to create their own competitive media outlets.

I wonder why these people don't support our own 'stars' the way conservatives support theirs.
