Building blows up on Madison Ave. on Upper Eastside NYC
Right now, it is being speculated that the doctor who owned the building may have deliberately blown up the building in a failed suicide attempt. Located at 34 East 62nd street, one of the most prestigious streets in the city.

According to NBC News 5PM, the doctor was going through a difficult divorce and owed his estranged wife 4 million dollars and was being forced to sell the building (four stories) to settle the debt.

The building was completely demolished but the doctor was rescued along with 15 other people.

Buildings on either side remained standing. The doctor had offices in the building and other doctors had offices there. Nurses due to open other offices just happened to be late today and missed the blast.

They think it was related to gas.

7. My thought was spite.
Besides, this way, it'll be easier to give his wife her share... in wheelbarrows.

10. NBC newscaster at 6PM said that wife had immigrated from
somewhere in Europe (I forget where) and that her family had been Holocaust sufferers. According to the broadcaster, attorneys said that she had suffered cruelties from the husband for years. She had moved out into a low income neighborhood and he had cut her off from all marital resources - finances et al.

His emails to her were totally bizarre...telling her that she wouldn't get anything.

and I bet those nurses are thanking whatever made them late for work today.

3. "You will be transformed from gold digger to ash and rubble digger."
That's what Dr Nicholas Bartha wrote in a rambling email he recently sent to his wife Cordula. Very, very damning.

4. Very damning indeed.
I shudder to think of the psychology of someone who could do such a thing. If he's done it, he had to be aware that innocent people could be hurt and killed. The selfishness is staggering.

9. Even his own attorneys (or perhaps FORMER attorneys) issued a
statement saying basically that he had stopped contacting them nearly a year ago. He seems to be a really selfish person. I hope there were no children involved.

6. That's impressive.
The way he rhymed "gold digger" and "rubble digger" together like that.
