O'Reilly Factor Debate Contest is a Scam
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 12:02 AM by stewert
Yes there is a Factor debate contest, and I will sign up as soon as I get done making this posting. You get a free trip to NY to debate O'Reilly on the issue of your choice. They are going to pick 6 people so get your entries in now.

--------

Would you like to sit on the set of "The Factor" and let Bill O'Reilly have it?! The Great "Factor" Debate contest is underway and here's the deal:

During the month of February six lucky "Factor" viewers will be flown to New York City or Los Angeles (depending on which city we're broadcasting from) with hotel and meals paid for by us.

All you have to do is convince us by e-mail (and later by telephone) that you are a good debater and that you can hold your own with O'Reilly on a topic of your choosing.

Good luck!

Contest rules:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,181845,00.html

They even have a special e-mail address, sign up now, if you dare.

oreillycontest@foxnews.com

Now take a look at this rule:

Six Grand Prize Winners will be selected to receive a trip for two to New York or Los Angeles (in Sponsor’s discretion) for two nights to tape a segment with Bill O’Reilly. Sponsor reserves full editorial rights to edit the segment and determine whether or not to air it.

So it will be taped and the sponsor reserves the right to edit it and to decide if it airs at all, what a fraud of a contest.

I would never agree to these rules, I want it to be live with no editing, this contest is a fraud. The rules protect O'Reilly, all the debates will be edited so O'Reilly don't look too bad. If you make him look really bad it will be highly edited or it may not air at all.

And here is another good one:

By submitting an entry, you grant to Sponsor and its affiliated companies, the right, except where prohibited by law, to use your name, likeness, picture, address (city and state), e-mail address, voice, biographical information and written or oral statements, for advertising and promotional purposes in promoting or publicizing Sponsor, Bill O’Reilly, and their products or services, without compensation unless required by law. You shall have no right of approval, no claim to compensation, and no claim (including, without limitation, claims based on invasion of privacy, defamation, or right of publicity) arising out of any use, blurring, alteration, or use in composite form of your name, picture, likeness, address (city and state), e mail address, biographical information, or entry. The rights granted under this paragraph shall extend to Sponsor and its affiliated companies with respect to all entrants in the Contest, including non-winners and winners.

2. We should find a way to sponsor "debates" all over the country
on the night this airs. . .so people can watch real debaters tear him apart while he baits people on television.

4. Oh please
They're only going to get either a very weak debator who is a democrat or on the opposite side or someone who does nothing but kisses O'Reilly's ass. They have to make it to where O'Reilly "wins."

7. while we are discussing this distasteful piece of slime, can anybody
tell me WHY he is referred to as "loofah" and "falafel boy"--I had done my best to avoid knowing anything about him, so obviously I missed (well, didn't see, at any rate) what this is all about.

am I going to be ill? should I prepare strong drink now? thanks!!

9. From what I understand
it's because of either this sex book he wrote or because he sexually harassed a co-worker who later sued. He caved in and took a settlement.

12. They need to make a choice - do they want a good debater,
or someone who hold their own against O'Reilly? Because anyone who can hold their own is obviously not a good debater.

Plus the asshole gets to edit the segment however he wants? That fucking liar you just know is gonna take answers from one question and put them as answers to something else. And he'll cut out words like "not" or other words that change the meaning entirely of a statement.

Plus the lying bag of shit gets to decide if the segment even airs?!

As another poster said, the only people they'll pick are the fucking paranoid psychotic idiots who aren't liberal, so much as they're schizophrenic tin foil hatters.

There is no way that fake lying sonofabitch will debate any legitimate, well-spoken, reasoned, measured, intelligent liberal.

It'll be freepers that they are paying to "act liberal", or the mentally unstable.

14. I'm sure its all fake
They will NEVER and I mean NEVER put somebody in a chair opposite him who can really challenge him on an intellectual level. A few years ago he was an idiot but he sometimes had on guests (like robert reich) who gave him a hard time cause his brain could not keep up. These days its always somebody that makes him look smarter. So they can call it a contest all they want, but they will choose somebody who is so extreme in their views that it will make him seem mainstream, which is his trick for success.

And the person who actually "wins" if you can call it that, would get interrupted before you get a chance to score a point. Thats his other secret ingredient. I know somebody that works there in NY in the editing room and he talks about this all the time. O'reilly is known as a joke even in his own news room but nobody would ever say anything b/c they are afraid of him and his power. He is as mean in person as he projects on TV and has no problem walking over the little people working there. He treats the suits there with similar disdain-he basically acts like he "is" fox-news and untill his ratings tank they treat him like a mafia don over there.

15. Oh, what a joke this whole thing is!
There is NO WAY they will have anyone in this thing other than to tear them to shreds to make Mr. Bill look good. Unless they deliberately want someone who can walk all over him so he can whine about it and milk some sympathy out of it like he did after he was on Letterman.
