3. Martin Luther King on the Iraq War |
|
Yesterday KPFK had the Pacifica archives open, playing some of MLK's speeches. What he had to say on so many issues is as relevant and inspiring today as it ever was. It troubled me to see Bush, the greatest killer of the 21st Century to date, a liar in the service of death, giving lip service to the ideals of Dr. King. It troubled me because such lip service undermines the true message of the man, and reduces him to a cardboard prop.
Yesterday I realized how vital it is- as was done in the start of this thread- to reclaim Dr. King's whole message and to carry on his work today.

The true heritage of a man is in his deeds and what he stands for. If somebody is used for political gain then it reflects badly on the person doing. We all know what George Bush stands for and he represent the exact opposite of Martin Luther King.
:toast: Good to have you here :)
