HELP: email MSNBC TV re Keith Olbermann doing only half HIS show.....
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 07:47 PM by fearthem
There is a chance Dan Abrams is watering down Keith's show, COUNTDOWN, as he's a Republican -- it's their #1 hit, so maybe not, but it's too important of a show -- the ONLY one that we have telling it like it is -- to risk them not hearing US LOUD AND CLEAR. THANKS!

1. Before you go off on a political crusade, this is MLB ALL STAR week...
I'll bet that Keith pre-recorded all his segments and is in Pittsburgh right now watching the Home Run Derby.

5. I hope you are right, but just before elections they may want him...
out of the picture for now. They are bringing Keith back to do a Star Jones story! I think we must watch Keith's back if there's even a hit of his show being compromised.

9. This is not just before elections. And the Star Jones story was pre-taped,
as there will be no new breaking Star Jones news to worry about.

We're just lucky we got ANY Keith tonight. He may not be on at all tomorrow.

6. I agree he's out of the studio - interview with Dean was taped.
Doubt he'd miss All-Star week! :hi:

7. OK....LISTEN PLEASE.
The interview with John Dean took place in New York City. Countdown orignates from New Jersey. Keith obviously taped the interview with John Dean earlier in the day, and also pre-recorded the #1 story which is about to air.

He is not live, and is not at his regular studio, which is the reason he only did the #5 and #1 stories this evening.

IT IS NOT A CONSPIRACY!

11. His attorney father is on Scooter Libby Defense Fund Board.....
and I have heard Dan, on the show he previously hosted, make statement that were slanted to the right.

I'm not convinced Dan has an ideological agenda.

24. I think you're thinking of Tucker Carlson's father
Dan Abrams' father is a First Amendment attorney who represented Judith Miller and Matt Cooper. Tucker's father is on the advisory committee for Libby’s Legal Defense Trust.

16. OK, time to clear up some myths.
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 08:21 PM by BerryBush
1. While the end of tonight's show was prerecorded, the interview with John Dean was NOT. I taped it. The MSNBC "LIVE" bug was on during that segment and during the brief tease Keith did for the rest of the show. MSNBC is religious about using the "LIVE" bug only for live material.

2. That interview took place in New York. Keith opened the show by saying "Good evening from New York."

3. As much of a baseball fan as Keith is, he's gone on Dan Patrick's show saying he really doesn't see any point to the All-Star Game. So while he may have cut out early to watch the Home Run Derby on TV (or not), I see no reason to assume he's going to Pittsburgh.

Edited to add: This doesn't mean that all this is some kind of MSNBC plot to take Keith's show away. It just means that the theory that "he's in Pittsburgh/going to Pittsburgh for the All-Star Game" is false/likely false.

18. Done! Dan Abrams is a punk
and a CON and I can not stand him.

He went to Duke and never did I hear him mention that fact when he was giving his one sided view of events.

25. Yes he did...
He mentioned being a Duke alum SEVERAL times; there was never any secret. He also read letters from viewers that accused him of being biased BECAUSE he was a Duke alum.

BTW, his view was not one-sided. He was actually quite even-handed and responsible on the Duke story; far more than most of the so-called liberal media. It's the only time he WASN'T sensationalizing the story.

21. But that half he did -- especially the first 20 minutes
with John Dean... Wow. Anyone who missed it this evening has GOT to watch the rerun either later this evening or tomorrow morning. Trust me.

But, like has already been noted, I don't think I'd panic just yet. It's All-Star week.

22. And I'm not meaning to incite panic here
but I think Keith's interest in the All-Star Game is being vastly overestimated.

I don't know, maybe he likes the Home Run Derby and can take or leave the rest.

I don't think there's a vast conspiracy to take away his show, though.

27. Ummm......
KO worked for ESPN and still does a radio show with Dan Patrick (ESPN). He is a HUGE baseball fan and historian, something he wrote in high school is in the Baseball Hall of Fame. No way KO would miss the All-Star game.

29. And now Keith himself reveals the TRUTH!
He had dinner reservations Monday night. He was supposed to have the night off, but John Dean was launching his book tour and wanted Countdown to be the first interview, so Keith came in, interviewed Dean and took off for some "nice tuna ravioli".

He was pretty amused at all the emails chiding the "new format."
