Robert Kennedy Jr. I would love to see him run for president. |
|
He is brilliant and passionate, why not?

1. I'm going to guess that you're too young to remember -- |
|
all the assasinations. I'd be terrified to see any Kennedy run for the presidency again, because of what might happen to them.

4. No, I remember JFK and RFK dying though I was still in school |
|
I don't think that means the same would happen to him.

I think he can achieve more by remaining a private citizen. I wouldn't want him to because of the risk.

1. His heroin conviction. Yeah I know he's clean but you know there's no way in hell the rethuglican media will let him say a single word on the campaign trail without bringing it up.
2. Uncle - Assassinated
3. Father - Assassinated
Not to mention his stance on the 2004 election. That and his conviction, it'll never happen.

6. He has too much baggage to run for president, but |
|
he'd make a great Interior Secretary or head of EPA!

8. I don't see how anyone can have more baggage than Bush |
|
and he's been in for two terms.
More drugs and alcohol, more lawlessness, more shame, before and during his presidency than most human beings could ever dream of.

14. and if their own mistakes aren't enough, |
|
people make up mistakes for them! I can't believe people actually put forth some of the wild claims I've seen over the years.

15. the nastiness towards Ted Kennedy is unbelievable |
|
Yes, he is a flawed man who has made some mistakes, but he has done an awful lot of good things over the years. He has a long and excellent voting record for the people of his country. He speaks out when he sees injustice. It makes me sick the way the right characterizes him.

7. Since when does "brilliant and passionate" qualify someone |
|
to be President???
Not knocking Robert Kennedy Jr, or that fact you like him, but lots of people are "brilliant and passionate" and I wouldn't elect them dog catcher.
What other qualifications does he posses besides a name?
Not real big on political family dynasties

9. I don't even think of him as a "Kennedy" |
|
but when I hear him speak he seems to understand and express so perfectly what this country is supposed to be and where we are falling short. I think of him as better than a "Kennedy".

he articulated his belief in this country and the people in his interview with Charlie Rose. I agreed with everything he said, Kennedy or not. ;-)

|
him alive. No doubt someone would try and assassinate him, too. Forget it. he's doing fine right where he is.

18. There's also the fact that speaking is quite a chore for him |
|
He still speaks brilliantly, but it is a handicap worth considering.
He'll do much better work outside of government anyway.
