Throughout American history we have always had a peaceful
transfer of power from one administration to the next, wonder what the chances of that happening in '08 is, slim to none if you ask me.

go ahead and ask me

1. Well, there were small protests in FL 2000 and in OH 2004. But,
remember the stormtroopers in the capitol at the last inaugural? It was almost unrecognizable as an American city.

2. It depends on many, many things.
I think that these Repugs will never let go of power willingly without putting up a helluva fight. That's why they stoop to the lowest limits of debauchery to win. They are incredibly and hopelessly corrupt. There's no telling how far they will take things.

However, in the USA we still have institutions in place to insure that power is handed over peacefully. The Repugs haven't been able to tear down everything, at least not yet. However, in two years things could be different. If the Democrats don't start opening their eyes to what has been going on we could be in for a real fight. It all comes down to how much the Dems in Congress will stand up to the bully thug Repugs.

Still hopin'.

4. I am still hopin' too but my gut tells me that this cabal will be fighting
tooth and nail to hold on to the presidency knowing full well they will be heading off to the Hague for war crimes trials.

3. When it comes down to it, we have the numbers behind us.
My fear is that 2008 will go badly, but nobody will be willing to risk personally to fix it. They'll want to act - like Feingold tried to act with his lone censure proposal- but without action in unison...

It's kind of like a Kung Fu movie where the band of ninjas go after the hero one at a time and keep getting their asses handed to them.

5. The Republic is only 230 years old, though.
Many other countries, kingdoms and empires throughout history have managed peaceful handovers of power for that length of time. Inevitably, however, some destabilizing force upset the balance of power and a coup/revolution/civil war or other violent change occurred.

6. There would definitely be rioting in the streets....
There would be physical threats to throw them all out of the Capitol and the White House, if they tried to pull more of their same crooked crap. And they may try it? There's a bad moon a rising...

10. They will steal another election - if there is even an election
and then they will not have to leave the confines of our comfy little white house.
