Four 101st soldiers have been charged in the rape of an Iraqi teenager and murder of her and three relatives, along with former 101st soldier Steven D. Green, who pleaded not guilty to charges last week. Another soldier was charged with dereliction of duty for failing to report the incident.
Capt. Mark Weinschreider said
there wasn't a shred of shame or disappointment in his unit.
"(The allegations) don't affect me," he told The Tennessean newspaper of Nashville. "All the good we're doing over there outweighs any bad stuff that happens."Staff Sgt. Adam Carabello, returning from his third deployment, said the allegations are not on his mind.
"It doesn't affect me at all," he said. "Seeing all the people cheering when we came in (to the base) made me a little more proud. I feel proud to be a soldier."SNIP
