Castrated Orange County child molester drops request for release
Castrated Orange County child molester drops request for release

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A convicted child molester who was surgically castrated has withdrawn his request for release.

Kevin Reilly had asked to be freed from Atascadero Mental Hospital, but yesterday he told Superior Court Judge John D. Conley that "there are still some things for me to work on."

Reilly had previously claimed that after his voluntary castration and the completion a sex-offender treatment program he was no longer a threat to children.

Sentenced to 14 years in prison in 1983 in three separate child molestation cases, Reilly was held after his sentence because of petitions labeling him a sexually violent predator and a danger to children.

He won a court order to have his testicles removed at his own expense in 2003.

1. I think that should be the punishment for rape - castration.
Take away the weapon.

5. Actually, since it's the testicles that are removed
it's more like removing the ammunition.

7. But the brain can take over
and manufacture testosterone itself from cholesterol, so you are back to square one. Surgical castration doesn't stop this from happening. Chemical castration has a better chance.

deterrent!
