Compassionate Conservatism - Make Them Eat Their Words
So let's for one moment examine the record of the gang that couldn't shoot straight since they stole their way into office. Just how compassionate have these conservatives been? I guess it depends on the interpretation of the word compassionate.

O.K. so they haven't been very compassionate to those whose existence depends on government funded social programs, especially the poor, elderly, disabled, unemployed and sick. And I guess you could say they weren't very compassionate to those poor souls ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. And yeah they have terrorized, raped, beaten and murdered innocent civilians in Iraq and conducted illegal war tribunals at Gitmo.

But let's look at the positive side of compassionate conservatism. They dramatically lowered federal income taxes and capital gains taxes for wealthy people so they could get wealthier. And they helped to create record profits for the military and defense industry with lucrative no-bid contracts. And I guess you could say the same for the oil companies. But hey what are friends for anyway. If you can't help a friend in need who can you help?

Now that I have taken my tongue out of my cheek - please remind all your Repuke friends of this. Hey you might even want to write a letter to your local paper to send a little reminder to those who might have bought this bull shit five and a half years ago.

9. Canto XXIII, Circle Eight, Bolgia Six: The Hypocrites
(line 54)
About us no in the depth of the pit we found
a painted people, weary and defeated.
Slowly, in pain, they paced it round and round.

All wore great cloaks cut to as ample a size
as those worn by the Benedictines of Cluny.
The enormous hoods were drawn over their eyes.

The outside is all dazzle, golden and fair;
the inside, lead, so heavy that Frederick's capes,*
compared to these, would seem as light as air.

Frederick's capes: Frederick II executed person found guilty of treason by fastening them into a sort of leaden shell. The doomed man was then placed in a cauldron over a fire and the lead was melted around him.

Text and note from:
The Inferno, by Dante Alighieri, circa ~1318
translated by John Ciardi
copyright 1954

3. Gotta get John Dean's new opus.
"Conservatives without Conscience". It's number one on my hit parade.

If this book doesn't rip things right open, I don't know what will.

Unfortunately, I'm not too sure enough Muricans know how to read.
:sarcasm:

6. Can't wait to read it
The KO interview was great. I think Dean has it nailed. One thought we need to keep in mind. If 23% of the populace are dumbass lemmings willing to follow this gang over the cliff, that still means that 77% of us won't. We in the majority need to make sure our voices are heard and acted upon.

8. If only they could see the error of their ways.
If only they could become better people. An understanding of Compassion would be a gigantic step towards becoming decent human beings...

Maybe they feel so guilty they can't even consider changing now...

10. The only error of their ways is not total control.
"If only they could become better people. An understanding of Compassion would be a gigantic step towards becoming decent human beings..." If only?
"Maybe they feel so guilty they can't even consider changing now..." Yea your right, lets give them enough time to destroy the country so we are sure their total A-Holes.

11. That's an error I would rather they didn't make...
The last thing we need is them having 'total control' (though they pretty much have that already).
As to "If only they could become better people...":"If only?" Exactly, if only... It's obvious it was pure wishful thinking; sort of "in a perfect world...". To bad wishing something good won't make it come true.
As to "Maybe they feel so guilty...":"...let's give them enough time to destroy the country so we are sure their total A-Holes." That's the last thing I would suggest; we're already a day late and a dollar short... We don't even have much time to talk about this, we have to act already (4 months from now we'll be just past one of the, if not the, most important elections of our lives).
