What do you have to do to file a FOIA request. I want one, I want one for my husband and for any organization I have been affiliated with in the last 3 years. I think any of us that have been active in any way in the last three years in any way needs to request this information.

By active I mean something as simple as having friends or relatives that live in a foreign land that you have had e-mail or phone contact with in the last 3 YEARS! Think about it. Take it out three degrees. Because you talked with someone in Brazil they (the gov't, NSA) are now tracking every call and e-mail you make, even to Mom for her birthday. Do you think for a minute this information will wake up Mom. Nope.

snip of imaginary conversation with RW Kool-Aid sucking MIL (mother-in-law, bless their golf loving, gated community, little charity giving, little hearts):

"If we aren't doing anything wrong then why should we care if they listen in to us and our conversations? It's okay for them to know where I'm going to be next week, I'm safer for it. Oh and by the way, "unions" have been the downfall of this nation, didn't you know? No, I don't want to go see North Country, you need to go see Memoirs of a Geisha. Great film. Love, Mom"

Someone here at DU help me out. I truly believe this is something each and every one of us need to do right now. Call and make the request, start at the absolute bottom of the tree and follow through all day.

I want some GD'd ANSWERS and I want them NOW!

WE ARE THE PEOPLE, we are your bosses, we employ you all. You don't have answers, You are Fired!

on edit,

I think we need to take up Al's call to the "telecommunication" companies. "CEASE & DESIST, right NOW!" I'm calling them first and firing them today if they don't. I don't want the internet or my phone or my television. Get it out of my house today. Think of what could happen today if we all did this. I am, will you?

1. If Bush isn't doing anything wrong why can't we listen in on him?
Or Dick Cheney?

2. Well is there someone for you to call to facilitate? Make it happen.
It's for National Security, right? (key word, National Security - this thread is now officially being tracked - take all appropriate action - report to your Commander-in-Chief)

7. Dictatorships are one way streets.
YOU must be transparent while your PRESIDENT deals in secrecy for power to control, in the name of security.

8. Isn't that the irony.
The most secretive administration in modern history, and it is listening in on us citizens. Talk about arrogant.

3. Has the govt been spying on you, personally? Yes.
Conservative estimates of the NSA's capabilities say they can intercept & record 3 billion individual messages transmitted electronically each day. These are telephone, email & faxed communications.

It may be pretty impersonal for the NSA - but for you , it is.

4. Unfortunately, Telcos have to do what the government says
They are regulated, and can have their licenses suspended if they don't follow orders.

12. Oh but you forget, "we the people", we are supposed to own the airwaves.
Hence we have the FCC.

What a joke.

5. The Republicans Don't Get It
They seem to think that all of this wiretapping is perfectly okay because we're spying on the terrorists. But that is not all that is being done. Peace activists are being spied on. WTF does that have to do with stopping al-Qaeda? If they really *were* just spying on al-Qaeda I wouldn't have a problem with it. But that's not what is happening.

10. Did They Increase Their Workload
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 09:14 AM by Frustratedlady
when they sent all those poor souls to Iraq? Not only do they have to watch their calls/emails for terrorist activity, they have to monitor for any criticism of their CIC. Can't have those kids bad-mouthing their boss.

Send them home to their mommas!
