I drove past a murder scene just minutes after it was discovered. |
|
I was driving toward a client's location at about 8:30am and noticed a fire truck and rescue\paramedic unit parked along a riverbank. They were looking into the water at what seemed to be a dead body. It turns out it WAS. A young woman had been shot to death. Damn. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/071306dnmetshooting.6677569.htmlThis is the third overt act of violence in my local area in the past couple weeks. This place is going crazy.

|

4. Is it the same person doing both? |
|
Or is there more than one suspect?
Stay safe!

12. Nope, two separate psychos. People are frightened to go out at night in |
|
certain areas! They have a composite drawing of the rapist/killer...no clue about the sniper, apparently.

2. I live next to religious group and they shoot all the time |
|
They live in the woods so I can not see just what they shoot and I am sort of glad about that. I thought the crime rate was down.

3. I live in St Paul, The Twin Cities, and if you want to see.......... |
|
.......a place that is going crazy with murder and violence in general go to Minneapolis. Yes, I agree it's going crazy over there with something like 30 murders so far this year. The "Guardian Angels" are starting to get involved over there again in hopes of curbing some of the violence.
It may only be a few miles away but that is like a whole different country over there. I don't do Minneapolis for any reason.

7. OMG, 14 murders just this month???? At least Minneapolis............ |
|
....with their 30 murders is for the year thus far. Who is it that is doing this??? I'm beginning to :tinfoilhat: wonder if maybe the FBI or CIA isn't putting some people up to this and paying them for their efforts. Who knows, in money or something else the person wants/needs?? I know, I know, that is really out there in :tinfoilhat: land but it sure seems weird that the crime rate in this country has skyrocketed these past 6 years. Yes some of it is the economy but it can't all be the economy - there is definitely something going on.

10. No need for tinfoil...it seems to me that when you ruin the economy |

people are going to become desperate, and violent crime is going to increase. IMHO, that really does explain most of it. Although there does seem to be a lot more general animosity in the air these days...the world has become a really brutal place all the way around, much more so than it was five years ago. You can certainly pin a lot of that on the Bushies, still without breaking out the tinfoil.
I think we're still way down, statistically, on the crime rate from any historical high points, though. Not that this makes anything better, really, but there it is.
DC has always been a pretty violent place...in 1993, there were 454 murders. It's just in the news right now because we had like five shootings in the last two days or something, and a couple high-profile murders in the last week. The media start to notice when people get shot in places like Georgetown and Bethesda.

6. ... walking past Walter Reuther's house just before he was shot |
|
I grew up around the corner from Walter Reuther's house in Detroit. In April 1948 when president of the UAW (United Auto Workers) he was hit with a shotgun blast through the kitchen window. My dad was walking home from the bus stop after bowling and went past the Reuther kitchen window 10 minutes before the shooting took place at night.
I was about four at the time and I remember visiting with the police detail assigned to guard the Reuther family. The Detroit cops were great with the kids.
Reuther survived the shooting.
