That means.....no. No one has said a darn thing. I'm hoping they spent last night working on their responses in SUPPORT of Gore. They BETTER NOT do what they did to Murtha. "He speaks for himself" bullshit.:grr:

5. I don't know
But I'm a democrat and I absolutely loved it. Why not speak truth to power. Why not speak openly of embarassing and shameful parts of our American history (wiretapping MLK). We can not acknowledge the past and learn from mistakes etc unless we acknowledge that they happened at all. It was great to hear Gore talking about wiretapping of MLK and Gulf of Tonkin.

8. I have not heard a response yet
there should be. Gore was right on every count!! We do need those checks and balances. This administration wants all the power they don't what to be questioned by the people or by law. We have lost our democracy and we need to get it back now!

they knew of it in advance.

Are they distancing themselves?--

12. I think you are right
I just don't understand it. Gore truly stands for the our party. I am so tired of our party sitting on the fence. I know that Republicans have all the control but our party still has a voice that I haven't heard since Murtha (Hope I spelled that right.) I want my party to stand up and call out this administration out for what they are crooks!!!!

I would have expected them to catch the momentum, why is there no cohesion?

The person who stands up and says, 'This is stupid,' either is asked to behave or, worse, is greeted with a cheerful 'Yes, we know! Isn't it terrific!'

16. Gore got on the DLC's
sh*t list when he endorsed Dean over Kerry in the primaries. Gore was right then and he's REALLY right now. Media-wise, this speech was under the radar for the Dem pols. I'm hoping Dean, representing the DNC, will publicly come out SOON to support the speech and the ideals behind it.

15. From what I read over the weekend...
There are supposed to be more than 20 speeches on Wednesday. I heard the gist of them is supposed to be the corruption pervading the republican party. I don't know it they will broach the topic of the illegal spying.

33. I wasn't asserting that it is a direct response, however everyone
knew about Gore's speech and the text was released before he gave it. All I was saying is perhaps there will be a response and maybe (if we are at all lucky) there will be a coordinated campaign. That is all.

Fair coverage of what he said, and clear on the coordinated Republican rebuttal/attack. I was actually kind of surprised.

28. Surely you jest
They intro'd with the Gore clip and did a nice bit of coverage on it, a couple minutes or so. There were no Republicans on live, they came back with an RNC quote, Scottypotty quote, and then a clip of Gonzales saying "Clinton did it toooooo". I think they came off as looking desperate to discredit a straight-forward and non-partisan statement by Gore.

There's also a piece on some professors filing a lawsuit against Bush to find out whether they've been spied on.

30. good point! Where the fu#* are the rest of the Dems?
Why can't they stand up and support Gore! Now is the time for them to all stand up together, or they are in on it!

Nancy Pelosi won't even support censure for Bush breaking the law and spying on US! Why is she protecting him? What about US?! She's our 'representative' not Bush's!!

32. I started a thread on this subject this am and have been flamed
for trying to start a third party, accusing the Dems of not supporting Gore and withdrawing financial support of the party. None of which were true nor were they in the o/p. Be careful. You might get your toes bitten off.
