On a lighter note RE: An Inconvenient Truth |
|
I am sure someone else has already surmised this, though I haven't seen anyone mention it yet; doesn't Al's film rate an Oscar for best documentary and wouldn't it be cool to see him on the Red Carpet? I don't care what freeps think about Hollywood. It is one of our most enduring institutions and it is a bona fide export, I would say part of our GNP.
It also is a mirror for our culture, so I am wishfully thinking that Al as a movie star...
could be a good thing in the long run for the US.

of winning a bunch of awards! I thought it was fantastic, interesting and very educational. It should be required viewing for everyone who plans to live on Earth for a while!

6. I also think although he demurs |
|
regarding running, he is presently running the smartest campaign I've ever seen. He has people begging him, standing ovations and he's thrown off the stiff manner. He's got a good sneaky sense of humor. I almost fell on the floor laughing watching his skit on Saturday Night Live a month or so ago. I hope you saw it?
BTW, welcome :hi: to DU!

7. I noticed something different about it. |
|
I'm sure it crossed at least one other person's mind, but I don't know.
Interpersed with his presentation, he rides...alone in a limosine, using gas. I just found that ironic. Of course he has to get to places and public transportation is bad in most American cities, so I don't fault him for that. I just found it interesting that he's warning us about gas guzzling, and he's rinding a limo in the film.

i don't know how anyone could reasonably ask al gore to use public transportation and risk putting the public at risk when some whack took advantage to take pot shots at him
when i am a deposed leader of the free world i will be taking the limo as well

9. I wasn't asking for an apologist to excuse him. |
|
I'm sure there are very valid reasons (yours is plausable as well) why he uses limos and probably has SS protection as well. I just found it ironic that he was FILMED in it for a movie about Global Warning, and theose scenes didn't end up on the cutting room floor.
Save your battleaxe for somebody who hates Gore. Geez!:eyes:

10. Two possible reasons for Gore being shown in a limo: |
|
1. He doesn't hide what he's doing in his life. Riding in a limo is part of his life sometimes, and he would be a hypocrite to pretend it's any other way.
2. It makes him look important, which he is. Gives him the image of a successful, confident man, which he is.
I'm just guessing here. I don't really know. I do know he told the story of driving with Tipper somewhere in their own car, so probably the limo has more to do with the making of the documentary than it does with his personal life.

he's either riding in a car or getting on an airplane. It would have been better to show him pulling up to the ranch in a prius... but, hindsight is 20/20 I suppose.

I you listen hard enough, you may be able to hear Ann Coulter's head explode... leaving her enormous addams apple to screech the words "SEE! Liberal Hollywood!"
