It's the special counsel, stupid!!
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 08:59 AM by The Witch
Edit: looks like I should repost this later when more are awake, is that counter to DU etiquette?

Gore gave us our marching orders, folks.

Lest you forget:

1) We must all tell our congressmen and senators to order the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to investigate the illegal acts by the executive branch of the government.

2) We must demand that every person running for office in 2006 take a position on the special counsel investigation. If you're not for it, you don't get the votes you need.

3) We must tell the interest groups to do the same.

4) We must write our local media and demand the special counsel.

:patriot: Special Counsel. :patriot: Special Counsel. :patriot: Special Counsel. :patriot: Special Counsel. :patriot:

LINKS:
Contact your Senator. (Sorry this link isn't direct; I think DU's BBcode takes out the word "form" so "information" in the URL for the direct link is becoming "ination" in the post! How odd!)
Contact your Congressperson.
Contact your local media.
Contact Move On's Action Forum.
Contact the DNC.

Add your own links below and :kick: if you like.

Move out, troops! :)

"demand that every person running for office in 2006 take a position on the special counsel investigation"

NO DAMMIT- we want IMPEACHMENT NOW!

And by the way, an investigation isn't needed. Bush admitted to breaking the law. There is no constitutional justification
(see letter to congress from constitutional scholars http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x159903)

4. Of course we want impeachment. But:
an investigation isn't needed

Do police just throw a guy in jail without a trial even if he confesses? Especially if he refuses to cooperate? An investigation is absolutely needed because you will need charges to be brought!

5. However, a taped and broadcasted confession...
...is a definite boon to any investigation.

6. question...
what is there to investigate? He has admitted it. He did so in front of a few million people. There is no need for a special counsel here...just a need for someone to determine the legalities and then bring charges...why is everyone hollering for a special counsel to investigate something where there is nothing to look at...he admitted it.

7. exactly!
The president admitted he broke the law
A US president is not above the law
The constitution specifically states the president is to be impeached for breaking the law...

what we need here is a very special trial
