Having defended wiretapping, AIDS policy, Laura now defends GOP honor...
and denies "culture of corruption." With polls tanking, is Karl hiding W, and the GOP, behind Laura's skirts? (And Mrs. Alito's tears?) Has the male face of Bush and Co. become so ugly that Laura's face is being presented as an alternative?

Laura defends the GOP
By Bill Sammon
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
January 17, 2006

MONROVIA, Liberia -- First lady Laura Bush yesterday rejected Democratic claims that Republicans are mired in a "culture of corruption" and said she'd be "glad" to campaign for Republican candidates in the fall.

"It isn't true," Mrs. Bush said of the "culture of corruption" charges in an exclusive interview with The Washington Times while here for the inauguration of Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf as president of Liberia.

Mrs. Bush offered her star power to Republican candidates after saying she did not know how the Democrats' accusations will affect the congressional elections in November.

"I'll be glad to campaign for Republicans who ask me to campaign for them or do fundraisers for them," the first lady said at the U.S. ambassador's residence here.

Mrs. Bush made clear that "there's certainly not a role for any sort of bribery or anything that would be considered corrupt," but said many lobbyists play vital roles in public policy....

4. This is an admission of how blatant and obvious the corruption is.

If the first lady has to defend BFEE against scandalous charges while speaking to the press in a foreign country then there has to be something to it.

Reminds me of Tricky Dickie saying "I am not a crook".

Laura. We know the truth. Stop trying to bullshit us. It puts you in the same category as that inept weasel you're married to. Surely you must have a little bit more integrity than he.

and away from chimpy mcfart somewhat of an adventure ... laura the shy, retiring woman, who wanted nothing to do with politics at one point in her life, may now be looking for an adventure, or for a way to not to have to give up the white house.
