Bush Military History Project #25
This is being written as a journal in democraticunderground.com and crossposted on Dailykos and Myleftwing.
I urge readers of this series to obtain a copy of Unfit Commander by Glenn Smith, the only source of Bush's military papers in chronological order. Where internet references are not easily available I will give page numbers of this book for reference.
I also urge readers to become familiar with the report by Lt Col Gerald Lechliter, published in the NY Times, available at: http://www.nytimes.com /....
Or Google: NY Times Gerald Lechliter. I will be referring to both of these sources in this study.
Many, many Thanks and an Airborne salute to Paul Lukasiak and his AWOL Project: http://www.glcq.com /
I can be reached at concernedexlrrp@hotmail.com
(The author of this series is not a paid consultant to ANYONE!)

Journal Entry 25

I have been re reading Mapes’ Truth and Duty one more time. You have to keep rereading the sources in this story because as more is revealed, more is confirmed and you need to keep checking back and forth.

One has to stare open mouthed amazedly at all Mapes and CBS left out of their story. Like Mapes never even asked Hodges whether Bush had been ordered to take his physical, something Hodges HAS to know. She never realized he had to know this—but he was Bush’s and Killian’s commander! Pretty lame, Mary, they must give Peabody Awards in Crackerjack boxes. What you realize is that they had the answers to their problems all the time. They could have gotten themselves out of trouble, turned it around and won big—at any time—by taking the simple obvious route. They should have had Rather stand up front and keep demanding an official investigation because the papers represent federal documents. And keep demanding to know, yes or no, if Bush was ordered to take the physical.. That’s all it would have taken. And that’s what they should do now.

What you see is that CBS, Rather and Mapes never grasped that they were dealing with federal documents and what that means. This is so surprising because they all had high paid legal representation. I point out the obvious again—if these are federal documents that means the federal government is required to prove or disprove them, to maintain their integrity. The federal government is required to maintain the integrity of ALL its documents or our country is in some real bad trouble.(Guess what? We’re already there!) There’s no way any private agency could prove or disprove the papers—it’s the federal government’s job to do so, and only their word is final.

This story is full of “the Emperor has no Clothes” moments but none more blatant than this. From the little polls I post, I know the majority of you reading this agree that the CBS papers are federal documents for which the federal government bears responsibility---of course they are--there’s no other rational interpretation. Why is this critically important fact so missing from this whole story as presented by the media?

This is the basis of the whole scam about the CBS Papers, the way the Bush administration was able to survive this without an official investigation—they pretended the papers weren’t federal documents and had no connection to the federal government and the media, including CBS, let them get away with this, even set it up for them.. The Bush administration pretended the federal government had no responsibility whatsoever in this matter. And Mapes, Rather, CBS and the rest of the media let them get away with it.

Mapes and Rather have an even better, more direct solution to their problem than just demanding an investigation, one that makes them rich and vindicated: sue the government for denial of due process. Once again I state the obvious: there are due and official processes for confirming official documents: Mapes and Rather have been denied this due and official process. This process is the culmination of work performed by federally authorized crime labs and investigators who have been officially tasked with this authority, NOT by bloggers and CBS. These important resources have never been used in this case: bloggers and the CBS Dog and Pony show were substituted for this. . Why ?

Mapes, Rather, and the rest of America, have been denied this due process that we all pay for. What’s the reason? Everybody in every federal and military investigative agency took off the whole Fall of ‘04? The reason by now be should be very obvious to our Constant Readers: ANY official investigation will show all the falsifications and missing documents in Bush’s records. And that is Bush’s biggest vulnerability, which he lives under to this day. All this story needs to turn it around is an official investigation, which court proceedings would instigate.

The benefit of suing the federal government for denial of due process is that it takes this whole affair out of the hands of the Bush ad ministration, the media and blogosphere and puts it right where it has always belonged: in a legal proceeding. If Mapes and/or Rather sued the federal government they can call all the main players as witnesses and put them under oath, starting with George W Bush, and then, Hodges, Martin, Staudt, Burkett, Bartlett, Allbaugh, James and the rest. Put them under oath, something the Bush administration avoids assiduously and then start by asking them why none of them ever demanded a federal investigation.

Bush, Martin and Hodges can, without any doubt at all, identify the CBS order as the one Killian DID write and send up the chain of command because they all saw it (covered in previous BMHPs.) Hodges and Martin signed a confirmation of it (page 256 Unfit Commander) and Bush SHOULD have signed an acknowledgement of it. Neither this suspension order or the acknowledgement is in Buhs’s records.

Ask them why this document is missing from Bush’s files and who removed it. Ask them under oath if Bush was ordered to take the physical or not. If that one simple yes or no question is answered under oath, it will all start to fall apart for Bush. And Bush, Martin and Hodges know for sure whether it happened or not (so do others but these three HAVE to know)

There’s the answer to this whole question right there, America—take it to court because the rest of the federal government has shirked and evaded their duty to protect America from allegedly fraudulent federal documents. Ask them all the obvious questions, like: what was George Bush paid for after he had been stripped of ALL his qualifications? And we’ll get to see George Bush and his whole chain of command, and many of his aides like Rove, Bartlett and Allbaugh, taking the Fifth, under oath. Now, isn’t that a pleasant thought? It’s what motivates the author of this series.

If anyone ever gets the chance to tell Mapes and Rather about this, please do. Tell them to do it for America, if they won’t do it for themselves.

You’ll read more about this in the next installment of the Bush Military History Project
