Jefferson Airplane's "Wooden Ships": I was listening this weekend |
and was struck with how desperate the song was and how desperate I feel about what is going on with Bushco, the Middle East invasions, the death and destruction, and our disappearing freedoms. I was trying to think of a more contemporary pop song with the same feel as "Wooden Ships" and I couldn't think of one. ( I prefer the Jefferson Airplane version to the CSNY version, which seems more trippy and less desperate.)

3. Jefferson Airplane did a version, and a better one (imo) |
If you've never heard it it's worth a listen.

5. Is irony one of the first signs of maturity? |
Or maybe it was just the times.

6. Haven't heard Jefferson's version but |
the version of it from Stephen Stills Live kicks ASS...well-recorded loud B-3 organ and a good groove. First version of the tune I heard, and the CSNY version sounds like a limp wet noodle in comparison.
