3. His guest is saying that the net roots drove Joe to run as Independent |
|
The blogs are of interest to activists and then the blogs give a voice to the activists. Good for conversation and raising funds. The influence of the net roots then drove Joe L to decide to run as Independent should he lose the primary.
Al asked if this was a mistake on JL's part. Seems to Al that as a Dem, he doesn't like JL's decision.

4. Pretty good general overview. I disagree with Franken on one point though: |
|
Franken said that, though it seems Lieberman is playing towards the moderate Republicans and unaffiliated voters in this election, he assumes he'd caucus with the Democrats if he wins.
I don't see why he'd assume something like that. Lieberman already seems to coordinate his moves more with the Republicans than the Dems, and if they manage to get him back into office... well, who's he going to cater to? I assume it wouldn't be the Democrats.

5. I don't know. I'd hope that Joe might have his eyes opened by all this |
|
and realize what he does that has alienated Democrats, ie telling us to not undermine Dub etc.
I do believe he is a Democrat, a liberal at heart.
I do hope he doesn't step over to the dark side force.
Right before the discussion, Al had mentioned something about anti-semitism, I think it was in reference to Rev Billy Graham and the antisemitic exchanges between him and Nixon caught on the infamous White House tapes. Al said he found it hard to forgive that for some reason.
Like maybe cause he's Jewish, he said.
Likewise, I find it easier to listen to someone like Al Franken discuss Lieberman cause I know he has the background and sensitivity regarding all that goes with that.

I can see that, but I don't know. The way Lieberman goes out of his way to provide cover for Republican policies while undermining the Democratic Party just makes me think the guy is not a liberal at heart, but a conservative with a liberal constituency. And man, this whole promise to run as an Independent just tears it for me.
