When Disaster strikes you can always be sure Bush is right on the job

9/11: Bush is just off a month long vacation at his "ranch" where in August he got a report that terrorists could strike in the US using a plane. He dismissed the guy who briefed him with a curt, "ok, you're off the hook now" and then promptly filed the report under the stack of comic books that is an integral part of his summer reading. On 9/11 itself he is reading "My Pet Goat" with a group of pre-schoolers when he gets the news and spends several agonizing minutes looking blankly until his staff decides to usher him out of there and he promptly goes into hiding somewhere in Nebraska.

Katrina: Bush is on yet another month long vacation at the ranch and had received a briefing explaining exactly what could happen to N.O. He listens and listens and thanks them for the briefing. Gets up scratches his ass and belches and then goes to watch a ball game. The disaster occurs--A major American city pretty much wiped out. He waits five days before viewing the damage but makes sure he makes time to fly to California for a GOP fund-raiser with a quick stop to strum a guitar with some guy in Arizona.

The Mideast explodes: Bush is in Germany at some kind of pig roast while reports of major military explosion all across the Mideast. "pass the slaw."
