Oil prices are catching up to the Carter years
It won't be long before Fox News will be unable to use their old soundbite about how (and this is paraphrased) "when adjusted for inflation oil prices are still lower than they were during the Carter Administration in 1979 and 1980. Brit, back to you."

At the rate we are going, that soundbite will soon be inoperable. We are catching up to the oil prices of that era. And someday we can tell our children about the oil crisis of the Bush years, and how we made it through that era.

1. Catching up? I'm pretty sure we passed it awhile ago. If memory serves
the adjusted inflation number was 2.80 a gallon during Carter's time.

5. You're right, although
the inflation adjusted number I saw was 2.85. Either way, we're above that. I was surprised that when I filled up in Chapel Hill, NC today (an expensive town) 93 Octane was 3.09. I expected higher.

3. Wing nuts claimed this as one of Carter's failings...well
Carter's rescue mission fiasco is chicken feed to Bush preemptive disasters. So just why is Carter worse than Chimp oh Authoritarian lackeys?

6. Funny how their dislike can only be one-sided.
Oh, it's never okay to criticize one's own when they do the same stupid shit that the other side is not responsible for governing...

4. highest inflation adjusted price was around $3.08
But it was just for a moment. Then the talking heads will change to oil, since oil prices were 86 $ a barrel at their highest inflation adjusted point in 1980...When we pass that, they will have to go back to the civil war era.....
