Haifa in 3 pics

What a beautiful port city on Mt. Carmel. My SO was just there last year on a Bahai Pilgrimage.

4. This is as beautiful as the pictures of Beirut.
I hate seeing any country blown to bits over bullshit. Why humans have to kill each other is beyond me, especially when it involves religion. Everybody should be able to worship the way they want without interference from anyone as long as its not hurting others. I really hate to see what all these beautiful cities will look like in the next year if things keep going the way they are.

7. That was my first thought today
When my ex was in the Navy, he was in Haifa many times, and brought back a lot of pictures. Seems as though one was more beautiful than the next.

When I heard about the bombs today, my very first thought was 'what a sad and sickening shame is war'.

We are so often overwhelmed by the human cost of war, that we tend to forget that it also ravages so much beauty in the world.

9. The Bahai World Center is sort of a sitting duck on Mt. Carmel
When I saw the news that Iran may have fired the missiles at Haifa, I feared for the worst. Iran has been persecuting Bahai's for years. Here's a pic of the Bahai World Center "Universal House of Justice"

12. "Mona with the Children"
Your thoughts on Bahai and Iran's persecution reminded me of this Canadian music video by Doug Cameron, circa 1985. If you haven't seen it, you may be interested.

13. Thanks for posting that pic
I've seen it in pics, but never knew thats what it was.

Truthfully, all I've ever known about the Bahai faith was that Seals and Crofts were followers.
I was always impressed with how they walked the walk and seemed to always be so spiritual and grounded. Plus, they created some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard.

'East of Ginger Trees' was one of my favorite songs by them. The lyrics were absolutely beautiful, and I always wondered if they were taken directly from their 'scripture' or if the song was just an homage to their faith.

Looking at this picture, its not difficult at all to see where the inspiration came from.
