Iraq, Terror Camps, and the War on Iran
For those of you who don't know, there's an article in the Weekly Standard about the Terror Camps in Iraq and the definite ties between Iraq and al-Qaeda ( http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/006/550kmbzd.asp ). For those of you who aren't familiar with the Weekly Standard it is a fine upstanding reputable publication if you are crazed Republican Partisan. For those of use on planet reality, it is a Pro-War Conservative rag.

The article is being referenced by a number of Conservatives and is laying the ground work for a forthcoming invasion of Iran. This Administration has a credibility problem when it comes to accusing other nations of having weapons of mass destruction or harboring terrorists (a well deserved credibility gap, actually). So if they are going to freak us out to the point that we invade Iran, they have to now prove that they were right about Iraq. Kind of a hard sell I would think, but they have proven themselves extremely capable decievers in the past.

Something to be aware of.

2. The al-qaeda link revival comes from papers unearthed written by
Douglas Feith, Chalabi's pal.

Feith used Chalabi's web of misinformation about Iraqi WMD's to develop a rationale for war against Saddam; including the ‘intelligence' that Saddam was conspiring with bin Laden.

Feith is known for a 1996 paper he co-authored and presented to President Clinton advocating the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. The letter was also signed by Richard Perle, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, and others. Feith was one of about five members of the Bush administration who formed a separate ‘special plans office' in October 2001, whose purpose was to collect information from the CIA and the intelligence community to develop their own strategy for the war on terrorism. The group highlighted "interrelationships among terrorist organizations and state sponsors." They claimed "strategic alliances between Al-Qaeda and Iraq, despite the argument that such an alliance would have to withstand deep ideological and religious differences.
