A friend was in Oregon surfing, and he stopped at a souvenir shop.
He said it was full of anti bush bumper stickers, pins, cups and other knickknacks. "I was tempted to buy some stuff, but I don't know if they would have let me get back into Canada."

3. Why wouldn't they let
him back into Canada? Oregon is very progressive and from what I hear from my friend in Eugene..there are so many activists!

6. Why take chances?
I think that was his thoughts. He said the wind surfing at the Gorge was fantastic. You know what surfers smoke when there is no wind.

9. Eugene and "the People's Republic of Portland" are exceptions
In the last few elections, it's been rural Oregon vs. Portland, Eugene, and a few outposts.

I'm in the suburbs of Portland and even here, this close to the city, there are a ton of Bushbots. Or there were, anyway... they're all pretty embarrassed now. I can go weeks without seeing a Bush bumper sticker.

At the library I do see plenty of liberal bumper stickers. Funny how literacy and liberalism go together.

15. Sorry, you're right..I guess I
don't know that much about other parts of Oregon besides Eugene where my friend who just moved out there from New York lives..and Portland where my daughter and her family reside.

I hope to all that's High that they are EmbarrASSed now! They should be!

8. Waiiiiiit a minute. I second the "Why would there be a problem
taking anti Bush crap into Canada?" question.
Is it illegal to have an opinion now?

11. a Canadian T-shirt shop I know ...
Edited on Thu Jul-13-06 11:11 PM by Lisa
Says that they have had problems with a few US customers who were trying to take anti-Bush T-shirts and coffee mugs back into the States, as souvenirs -- apparently some of the US customs people have made snarky comments (and in a couple of cases, confiscated the merchandise).

As a Canadian, I haven't heard reports from my friends, of being given a hard time for having anti-Bush stuff in their luggage. I've also seen plenty of US vehicles up here, with anti-Bush bumper stickers, so our guards seem to have let them through! (I always give the folks with those stickers a smile and a wave!)

I'm hoping to get some of those "Bush speech fridge magnets" at the pier in Seattle, next time I'm over there.

12. The best anti-Bush stuff I ever found was at a store across the street
from Harvard, his alma mater! Still makes me smile.
