What a dear man Warren Buffett is....

"I don't believe in dynastic wealth."

"I left my kids enough money to do anything they wanted, except nothing."

(that last is probably not completely correctly quoted, but is essentially right)

On Charlie Rose on PBS with Bill & Melinda (8pm PST).

EDIT: Think he has a decent shot at Time's Person of the Year?

2. I think he is an amazing human being.
His granddaughter was on Oprah not that long ago. She works as a Nanny because he doesn't believe in huge inheritances.

11. The REAL lesson to teach kids
is NOT creating the wealth BUT to LOVE doing your job. I see no indication that he lived any differently than any upper middle class person. I think his suit may have cost $100 at Sears! From what I hear his home is nothing special either....BUT he such a happy man.....married to a woman that he adored and kids that loved him even IF they were not getting his wealth......Maybe he should call the Waltons

8. Bill did make an often-under-appreciated point...
... that the SCALABLE distribution of goods (food, medicine, money, etc.) is at least as large a challenge as the development of those goods themselves.

And that's something that makes Bill an excellent person to have on the job. Love MS or hate MS, they did MASTER the art of scaling up the distribution of their goods...

9. Absolutely
especially when you are dealing with governments that like to starve their people. WANTING to do good is the easy half of the problem...getting to the people will be the real challenge

10. A long time ago Matt Bivens (ex The Nation's Daily Outrage master)...
... brought up a similar point about US aid being given to Russia/USSR, and how pretty much all of it was promptly stolen by mafia-types.
