the lack of World Leadership |
|
and i'm speaking mostly of the wealthier nations such as the United States, the UK, France etc.
i'm not saying any of these people are directly responsible for the world problems we have. many of those problems are the result of long time hostilities. but a real world leader would have worked on these issues before they got to the horrible point they are right now.
lets take a look at the world leaders who could do good and would have the power to do it. the piece of shit we have at home is part of the problem. then look at Blair who is mostly known on the world stage as the poodle of the piece of shit we have. then you have Chirac whose right wing policies at home conflict with any good he might want to do in the wider world.
it doesn't require anyone perfect. just someone that wants to do good and understands the importance of it. there would still be many problems, but there would still be some hope of things going in the right direction. we don't even have that right now with the shitty ass world leaders we have.
yeah, there are a lot of good people out there who can be considered "world leaders" but they are not elected officials who represent a nation and have the power to push for diplomacy as those who are could. and sadly, they need to be from a wealthy nation since money does help and can be used for good.

1. I totally agree...there is little to no leadership.. |
|
wrote song lyrics called "Where Have All the Leaders Gone"... I've posted it here before, so not sure if I should post it again, so I won't.
I say this a lot these days - there are no leaders...where's the inspirational, where are the inspired.

2. i think there are a lot of people who can be great leaders and do good |
|
but they need to be in a position of power. sadly, the people in these positions at this time are either making things worse or just don't care.

4. where are the peacemakers? . . . |
|
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be call children of God" . . .
so where are they? . . . at what point did international relations become the exclusive province of the warmakers? . . .
among Bush's many, many faults, the greatest is this: he is a warmaker, not a peacemaker . . . he likes war, and he likes being a "war president" . . .
the most meaningful thing the Democrats could do -- for the nation and for the planet -- is to become the party of peace . . . the offsetting voice to the military-industrial complex and the warmakers who inhabit it . . .
we need leaders who are peacemakers, not warmakers . . .

5. The "leaders" were at a pig roast -- partying |
|
bush isn't a leader -- he never has been. He has used his daddy's name -- but bushie has never been a "leader".
He is using the "office" --
I really can't think of any real leader -- world leader.

8. It's very worrisome.... |
|
Actually one of the most distressing aspects to the world political situation right now. When you look at the world we live in and how leaders behave, it's everyone for themselves and dog eat dog. That's the masterfully disgusting and, I think, so far successful tactic of BushCo: not just divide and conquer, but create a universe of a million stratifications and separations, where people feel no common bond across social or cultural divides -- it's all survival of who has the best guns and the oil rigs in the right places, etc. On the international level, I don't see anyone rising to fight this and posit a different approach ... am I missing something/someone? I wish I was ...
