This is scary... or sad... or something... It's hard to know what to say.

Is it time to get excited? I can't help the
way I feel. For the first time in my Christian walk, I have no doubts that the day of the Lords appearing is upon us. I have never felt this way before, I have a joy that bubbles up every-time I think of him, for I know this is truly the time I have waited for so long. Am I alone in feeling guilty about the human suffering like my joy at his appearing some how fuels the evil I see everywhere. If it were not for the souls that hang in the balance and the horror that stalks man daily on this earth, my joy would be complete. For those of us who await his arrival know, somehow we just know it won't be long now, the Bridegroom cometh rather man is ready are not.

You really should read that whole thread. The anticipation and excitement are palpable. These peoples lives are ruled by this!

1. Awww that's nothin'!
You should see how some sects have long thought this way. The Jehovah's Witnesses for example, have been wishing for an end to "this system" for ages. Had their whjole flock convinced it was coming in '75 (Stay Alive in '75! was the sound byte). Many sold all, donated it to the Watchtower and then, subsequently got screwed.

Still, they remain hopeful that one day 99.9% of humankind will be wiped out, leaving the world and everything in it to them.

Sick shit, eh?

Julie

3. Part of me feels anger towards these people
and part of me feels sadness. I wonder how many put their lives on hold for years, or never even really have a life, because of this crap?

14. Yeah, lots of 'em
But they are the vulnerable, exploited by the leadership of their respective sects. It is those who pull the strings that are so reprehensible.

Such a sad waste of life.

16. They have a life
They make babies, lots of them. Most will be as fucked up as them. None of them will have the coping skills to survive when their god lets them down.

7. No, "whackjobs" doesn't do it
since it implies insanity, rather than cold-blooded choice. They're not insane, they're misanthropes who are giddy that the murder of billions is nigh, so they'll relish a little schadenfreude while getting their tickets to paradise punched. Bloodthirsty, human-hating cowards is what they are.

20. I don't use "whackjobs" to imply insanity
I never make armchair diagnoses of anybody's mental health.

When I say "whackjob" I mean people who are willingly deluded, hateful beyond reason, viciously cruel, incapable of rational discourse, and/or capable of almost anything to achieve their extremist goals.

6. Yeah, I remember the other thread. This hardly seems real.
And then I remember all those nice computer programmers in their Nike shoes in that cult who thought that by committing mass suicide they were going to advance to a "higher level."

It is scary what the power of a group delusion can do.

8. Mike Malloy was reading these last night.
Right from the board. "Love thy neighbor", these folks will be mighty surprised if the rapture does occur and they are -gasp-left behind with all the rest of us miserable sinners!

10. This post totally cracks me up. She is a real nutjob.
"If He tarries, I will just have time to get my hair and nails done (you know let all I come into contact with know of my Bridegroom and what He has/will do). So i am all spiffied up for Him when He does arrive to take me home. No disappointment, just a few last minute details to take care of to be more pleasing to look at."

19. I also noticed that one.
Too be honest, I wonder if that post isn't a joke by a non-believer. It's just too surreal. Then again that whole thread (that whole site actually) is surreal, so who knows?

11. Funny typo
One person wrote:

We should already be ready and waiting and excited and like ifont4him we need to tell others of Christ and what he did for us.

The guy's username is ifNOT4him, but I was only scanning when I read the above message and thought, "How does one FONT for Jesus"? and is that as in typeface font, baptismal font...

I don't know, I'm bored at work on a Friday....

12. Well, maybe there's some good news
in this. When their rapture doesn't happen--AGAIN--just like it hasn't every single time in history when they've been convinced it's near, maybe it will give some of them pause and lead to them rethinking their extremist fundie views. Unlikely for most, probably, but maybe a few will start to question things. Hey, it happened to me, and now I'm almost the most liberal person I know, and have gone from "true believer" to very nearly atheist.

15. Yes, so give all your money and worldly posessions to the church...
you won't be needing them anyway.:eyes:

By the way, why aren't these people taking up arms and fighting the crusades themselves. They are content just to sit on their asses and let somebody else do it for them? The depth of their ignorance and insanity astounds me.

While the rest of the sane world is struggling to grasp something to live FOR, these insane people are embracing death.

How utterly pathetic that ones life is so sad as to be of this mindset. It makes one wonder what type of traumatic event buried deeply in their past, caused such a warped view of the world.
