White House Accuses Gore of HypocrisyWhite House Accuses Gore of Hypocrisy, Defends NSA Domestic Surveillance Program

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON Jan 17, 2006 — The White House accused former Vice President Al Gore of hypocrisy Tuesday for his assertion that President Bush broke the law by eavesdropping on Americans without court approval.

"If Al Gore is going to be the voice of the Democrats on national security matters, we welcome it," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said in a swipe at the Democrat, who lost the 2000 election to Bush only after the Supreme Court intervened.

Gore, in a speech Monday, called for an independent investigation of the administration program that he says broke the law by listening in without warrants on Americans suspected of talking with terrorists abroad.

1. That means they DON'T welcome it.
Whatever they say, the opposite is the actual truth.

19. Yep!!!
CNN and MSNBC this morning...that is the general take...that both Gore and Clinton...both this weekend speaking the truth..out loud and clear...are either "making fools of themselves or the Dem party or both"....but, that is just how it is being played..to shut up anyone else who might be so foolish as to actually speak the truth...the same old game...lets hope it doesnt take.

3. I make a motion we appoint Gore the voice for Dems on national security
I can't think of anyone any better. :) Maybe he will remind them again that Cheney lied about the info they had before 9/11? As Gore pointed out, they had info on at least two of the hijackers and perhaps as many as 14 others, but they ignored it out of incompetence. Is that what they "welcome" ?

8. That's justtheir standard line
They love Hoard den as DNC Chair. They preferred Dean to be the democratic nominee in 04. Then they loved having Kerry.

It's just the propaganda of dismissiveness.

9. The White House's official stance on everything seems to be
"That was our plan all along"

Except for 9/11 and the Iraq mess...

You'd think such brilliant strategists could use their skills to actually save lives and protect America, but apparently they are too busy scheming...

12. WH is demeaning the Dem. leadership--here is Gore--not in politics who
is commenting on our constitutional crisis--NOT our Dem elected leaders who have been silent on Gore speech (not talking of DLC)--but Pelosi, Reid, et al.

13. I Believe 9-11 Wouldn't Have Happened
under Gore's watch. There is evidence/proof that Bush and his admin. ignored many warnings. From what I have read, Clinton made counter terrorism his number one priority. And while leaving the WHite House his administration tried to warn Bush. But they flat out turned his people away.

23. They have the sheeple thinking 9/11 happened on Clinton's watch.
That's why Shrub runs around saying, "It will not happen on my watch." Yes, that is the reason he says that all the damn time, so people will get the impression that 9/11 did not happen on his watch.

18. Reminds me of Rove yelling, "Go Dean! Go Dean!" at a campaign rally.
Up is down.

-----------------

Pacifist Patriot gave Gore's mailing address yesterday, to write him and thank him for standing up for the truth. There's nothing like a handwritten note to make someone feel good about doing the right thing and encourage him to keep on keepin' on.

For those who missed it:

Honorable Al Gore
2100 West End Avenue
Suite 260
Nashville, TN 37203

Even a one-sentence letter is all it takes. Let's keep stoking this fire.

21. Since media already misrepresented Gore as a liar and fabricater
WH is certain that media will not hesitate to go along with their smear campaign since the false accusations and distortions were picked up and spread readily during the 2000 campaign.

29. Well, since righties claim that it's Clinton's fault that the WTC was
attacked 8 months after Bush took office, ask them how many terrorist attacks happened on US between 9/1993 and when Gore left office?
