What a Wierd Dream!

I had the strangest dream last night. I normally have wierd dreams, but this one was particularly and pointedly clear.

As I dreamt, I was wandering in a hospital and was freaked out by an oversize cockroach that kept getting larger and larger. As I really hate cockroaches (it's nothing personal, just a irrational phobia), I tried hard to get it outside, kill it; just get rid of it in general.

As the dream went on, the nasty cockroach became a hideous elephant. Now, I generally like elephants, but this one was enormous and monstrous. It, too, kept growing larger and more menacing, until, I had no choice, in order to save the hospital, to kill it. As it slept, I stabbed it.

When I awoke, I knew that the elephant represented the GOP. It was clear to me that the elephant morphed from some mutant cockroach, or in other words, the origins of today's GOP are filthy scavengers, doing anything to survive. The fact that the dream was set in hospital is obvious, both the cockroach and, later, the elephant were attempting to destroy the hospital and to disrupt the process of healing.

As far as the killing of the elephant while it slept, I'm not sure what exactly that symbolizes, but I know that my dreams hopefully will come true soon.

2. That's what I thought too.

The killing was particularly graphic too, which could mean that getting the Republicans out might be a bloody undertaking.

4. I had a dream, almost a prediction not long after 9/11

I was starting to become aware of the dangerous path America was heading in. I remember all the Flags, everywhere.. on cars, on billboards, in shop windows. I remember hearing about the rash of anti-arabic violence. People overreacting out of paranoia. As a man who appreciates the lessons learned from history, I saw disturbing parralels between in the National Patriotism run amok here, and the ultra patriotism demonstrated in 1930's Germany. It just felt like that was the direction we were going in.

Then I had this dream, and was reminded of another dark age in our history.

I was riding in a car with my dad driving. It was dark and raining. We got pulled over, I'm not sure what for. The cop asked us our names, and we told her as she took our lisences. When she heard our last names she seemed taken aback, and eyed us suspsiciously. "Fernandez?!" She replied in the kind of tone that asked what the hell kind of name is that? Then we started getting the third degree. More police started to arrive, and I was reminded of the McArthy era, when anyone who wasn't exactly like you could potentially be a communist. A familiar turn of phrase rose to mind... I am not now, nor have have I ever been a terrorist.. I turned to my father, when we had a moment alone and stated that I thought something like this could never happen here, again..

The Red Scare era had returned, only you replace communist with terrorist and you've got the makings of a grand witch hunt.

As I woke I realized why they called the the McArthy hearings a witch hunt, the same thing had happened in Salem, and the Spannish Inquisition before that. And the age old wisdom comes back full force... those who fail to learn there history are doomed to repeat it. Those words had never had such a profound effect on me till that day. It also made me just how stupid the Bush Administraion was.. here they go again, making all the same mistakes that were made only fifty years ago. I'd hoped that others would recognize the parralels and reign in the insanity.. but when that psycho-hose-beast Coulter stated that Joe McArthy was right.. I knew we were doomed.

Are you referring to African and Indian elephants? You know I don't really know, but let's say large ears. That feels right.
