Poll question: Is This The Beginning Of the Wider Regional War? |
|
Well not the beginning per se.
But, do you think this will continue to build into a full blown regional war?

1. The EU and Russia will be the voice of reason... |
|
...and our standing as peace mediator to the world will be irrevocably forfeited.
Cooler heads will prevail, and Israel, Hamas, and Hizbollah will listen to someone... but it won't be us.
If you listen carefully, you can actually hear America's political influence dripping away.
drip... drip... drip...

3. what i think is that this has increased the chances for |
|
someone to bomb iran.
now whether that happens -- or something else goes on -- i'm not sure.
it doesn't mean that iran WILL be bombed -- but i think that ever more serious considerations are being given to it.

4. I voted 'No' but there are qualifying butterflies. |
|
It certainly doesn't look good at the moment for peace.
But I am hoping that pressure can be brought to bear within each culture and country to minimize agressions.
The Middle East has not been markedly peaceful in any history book I've ever read. So I'm not expecting it to be by next weekend.
But I think the emphasis ON peace is worth everything we can give it.
And it would not disappoint me at all if a world body, or representative spokespersons asked Jimmy Carter to become involved. I think he is a deservedly trusted figure in the Middle East and in a very good position to affect positive alternatives.
I am also sure that George W. Bush would oppose Carter's presence.

7. This is the setup for Bush to bomb Iran... |
|
They have planned to do it for years and now they can piggyback it onto the upcoming elections.
