Pfc Chris Gorman
PFC Chris Gorman out of the 4th ID in Ft. Hood, Texas is preparing to be the next soldier to refuse to return to Iraq this coming Monday. On the 17th of July, Chris plans to report to the rear detachment of his unit, and refuse to board the plane that will be taking soldiers back to the battlefront.

Chris made application for Conscientious Objector status, before his unit left for Iraq and was told he would be left behind while the CO packet was processed. He was later told he would go to Kuwait, and could work on the packet there. Once in Kuwait, he was ordered into Iraq. He complied with that order, but refused to draw a weapon and refused to participate in activity that was religiously repugnant to him. For the exercise of his convictions, he was demoted in rank from SPC to PFC and his salary dropped accordingly.

2. It used to mean something to Americans when an individual
took a stand on their own conscience. Maybe people like Chris can help us remember.

3. but why religiously repugnant? If you see killing as repugnant you cannot
join the army at all....
I aboslutely support him, but why would he mention religion? I thought the reason was becuase the war is illegal and wrong.
Is any war religously acceptable?
