Hizbollah's chief : "You wanted open war. We are going to open war,"
Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 01:35 PM by leftchick
BEIRUT (Reuters) - Hizbollah's chief pledged open war on Israel after it bombed his Beirut home on Friday in a dramatic widening of an assault in Lebanon launched after Shi'ite fighters captured two of its soldiers and killed eight.

"You wanted open war. We are going to open war," he said," Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said in a dramatic telephone message broadcast live on Hizbollah television after the attack.

He said an Israeli navy ship was ablaze off the coast of Beirut. Lebanese security sources said two rockets had hit it. Israel TV said the ship had been only lightly damaged.

Celebratory gunfire erupted in the Lebanese capital and drivers honked their horns after Nasrallah's speech.

54. You need to see Nancy Pelosi's statement on the war.
She's 100% behind Israel, as expected, just like BushCo.

I hate Bush, but let's be honest: this mess is a product of American elites from both parties pursuing the same Middle East strategy to the detriment of our national interest.

13. Ooh, yes
crossing the border and killing Israeli soldiers and abducting them is sooo brave and noble. Shooting rockets into civilian populations killing four, including a five year old is soo noble. Aren't you the romantic.

Irael's disproportionate response is wrong and to be strongly condemned, as are many or their other actions. H'zbollah, however, shouldn't get a free pass.

45. I don't know, but
regardless that doesn't justify H'zbollah's actions against civilians. You can't condemn one party for something, saying it's inexcusable, and then justify another party doing the same thing. To do otherwise is simply hypocricy.

I thought the Lebanese people were against Hezbollah? I thought the Lebanese Government signed a UN agreement to disarm Hezbollah? I thought the Lebanese Government signed a UN agreement to remove Hezbollah and take their country back? I thought the Lebanese people supported PEACE? They are celebrating war. How sad. I wonder how many Israelis are celebrating this war?

I was speaking with my young Lebanese neighbour and he's on line with his parents. They are not vaguely connected to Hizbullah but Lebanese people are pissed and literally celebrated that speech. They do not take kindly to having their airport bombed and their seaports blocked by Israel.

25. Why do we care about these people anymore?
We have done so much for either side, and yet they still choose the path of violence. I have no sympathy for people who make such choices. There is a time and place when people either make the right decision or they have to pay the consequences for their bad decision. Both sides have crossed into that time and place. Hopefully, the innocent people of both nations will be able to escape before they are killed.

than bullets in the air celebratory fire. If 'all out war' comes and Iran is sucked in (by its support of hezbollah, it looks like we'll pass $90/bbl soon. US will adapt quickly but the ME will have a tough time with the necessities of life. You can't eat bullets, but maybe hizbullah has plans for that.

59. War by Bob Marley
Last night after we watched the biased and distorted coverage in the Western media, we watched LBC America and observed the Lebanese people looking at the bombed bridges, roads, fuel supplies and buildings in Lebanon. We hardly spoke -but we were beyond angry. My better half put on a Marley CD and I looked for Znet to read their views on this mess.

Below is what I found first - and then we read all the recent articles on Palestine/Lebanon.

http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID=107&ItemID=10572

http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID=107&ItemID=10576

Marley put music to an excerpt from the famous 1963 U.N. peace speech to the by Selassie
http://www.bobmarley.com/life/rastafari/war_speech.html
What life has taught me

I would like to share with

Those who want to learn...

Until the philosophy which hold one race

Superior and another inferior

Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned

Everywhere is war, me say war

That until there are no longer first class

And second class citizens of any nation

Until the colour of a man's skin

Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes

Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally

Guaranteed to all, without regard to race

Dis a war

That until that day

The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship

Rule of international morality

Will remain in but a fleeting illusion

To be persued, but never attained

Now everywhere is war, war

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes

that hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique,

South Africa sub-human bondage

Have been toppled, utterly destroyed

Well, everywhere is war, me say war

War in the east, war in the west

War up north, war down south

War, war, rumours of war

And until that day, the African continent

Will not know peace, we Africans will fight

We find it necessary and we know we shall win

As we are confident in the victory

Of good over evil, good over evil, good over evil

Good over evil, good over evil, good over evil
-------------
Remove African and place any people not considered important to the power brokers of our planet and the message remains the same. There is no fugging international morality on this planet. I live for the day when good conquers evil.

It is morning - a new day has dawned -hubby sleeps. I am watching LBC again -more of the same - anger in voices, shocked faces, smoke gets in their eyes and analysts and reporters from bombed out sites can't remain calm as they see absolute inequity.

I put on John Lennon - Imagine, but I know I am fooling myself for until the immoral and evil regimes have been toppled, utterly destroyed, it will be war.

Axis of evil my ass - the real evil lives in Washington, in London, in Tel Aviv. And no amount of propaganda will change that fact. Continue to bomb, bully, kill, lie. Karma awaits the evil of this planet.
