http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060711/pl_nm/bush_chemistry_dc_4The quotes below are from an article published a couple days ago, but I came across the quotes in a Post article today discussing the changes in Bush's style of "diplomacy" and the fact that with the series of disasters going on in the ME, Bush is left with nearly no options to deal with the mess on his hands. Here's Tony Snow comparing Bush to a master chess player. It's worth the read just for the chuckle. I had to read it several times to make sure I wasn't imagining such a thing!
Snow: "
Although he is often portrayed as a bit of a bull in a china shop, White House spokesman Tony Snow credited Bush with 'a chess player's ability to think several moves ahead' in his dealings with foreign leaders.
'He tries to figure out what incentives are going to appeal to people to inspire them in a way that we think is helpful and right. It's a real gift and it's something you don't see unless you are on the inside,' Snow said."The Post article that has this ridiculous Snow quote is actually a good read.
Bush the Bystander http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/blog/2006/07/13/BL2006071300903.html?referrer=emailFor once there's some honesty about what experts are saying about Bush. It even mentions the weird pig comments yesterday.
"Q Does it concern you that the Beirut airport has been bombed? And do you see a risk of triggering a wider war?
"And on Iran, they've, so far, refused to respond. Is it now past the deadline, or do they still have more time to respond?
"PRESIDENT BUSH: I thought you were going to ask me about the pig.
"Q I'm curious about that, too. (Laughter.)
"PRESIDENT BUSH: The pig? I'll tell you tomorrow after I eat it."Somehow I don't see the brilliant chess strategy in answering a serious question in this manner unless he was trying to humiliate the German Chancellor to death for some reason.
Anyway, when you think he can't be more of a moron and the WH more of a lying bunch of propagandists ther's always something else that pops up to humiliate us. I challenge anyone to come up with ONE world leader that Bush is always two steps ahead of - wiretapping doesn't count - name one person he could dazzle with this briliance Snow speaks of... As if.
